Researchers aghast that key figure in funding controversy invokes religion in science discussion
<clip>

Canada's science minister, the man at the centre of the controversy over federal funding cuts to researchers, won't say if he believes in evolution.

"I'm not going to answer that question. I am a Christian, and I don't think anybody asking a question about my religion is appropriate," Gary Goodyear, the federal Minister of State for Science and Technology, said in an interview with The Globe and Mail.

2. Insane answer..
Asking about a belief in evolution is a question
about SCIENCE not religion.

In fact, it's also a problem of misusing the word
belief. Evolution is not something you can
believe in, actually. It's a fact on the ground.

6. It's a based on a narrow understanding of the term "theory" and a lack of an
understanding of scientific principles. That and a narrow-mindedness that sees everything as black and white, I'm right hence you're wrong, my way or the highway.

3. The answer is obvious
Anyone who believe that evolution is a religious issue doesn't understand evolution.

4. Nice frame.
The question isn't about religion, it's about science.

5. Most Christians accept evolution, but not the assertion that
God had no part in its inception. That's where the argument remains. Catholic institutions teach evolution, but not pure Darwinism, which denies a link to deity.
