Pope: Condoms Not The Answer In AIDS Fight
<snip>

ABOARD THE PAPAL PLANE - Pope Benedict XVI said on his way to Africa Tuesday that condoms were not the answer in the continent's fight against HIV, his first explicit statement on an issue that has divided even clergy working with AIDS patients.

2. He also encouraged abstinence. Has that ever worked, for anyone?
The Pope seems so outdated to me. Not knocking any religion, but they need to get with the program.

5. It definitely doesn't work for all the women in Africa
who find themselves infected after basically being raped by their philandering husbands...

This is yet another terribly, tragically immoral stance by the Vatican.

3. Goblinmonger: Still miffed that progressives continue to give their support
to this fucked up organization when there are so many better options out there.

4. It is the only thing that will keep millions of people from catching aids. The pope pretends
the people have a choice to be abstinent. Many don't. And many marry an older man for economic reasons. How do you avoid aids then? A condom.

10. Out of all the people in the world
this is the man that the Catholic church decided was the most qualified?

The ignorance is stunning.
