Thank god for helmets and medics. I wrecked at 92 miles, but I finished. Riding time was 6:13. Total time was 7:50. This is a huge accomplishment, as I just quit smoking in January.
:)

1. congratulations!
I'm hoping to get my bike from my parents' place next week and one of things I want to do is ride the entire length of the C&O Canal in the state of Maryland. About 80 miles or so. I already walked 31 miles of the canal in one day on May 1st and will be doing it again May of 2011. It's definitely a huge accomplishment to complete a long distance in one day. :toast:

7. Thank you!
Riding the canal sounds super fun! My next ride, hopefully, is the MS150 Tulsa to OKC. I say hopefully because my doctor thinks I have a torn meniscus-I wouldn't let her send me for an MRI until after the HHH100 :)
She's going to be upset when she sees me so banged up tomorrow!

4. Some pictures

The "Hotter n' Hell" Red Gorilla-looking thing...about 640am

Air Force jets flying overhead

Crossing the finish line (photo taken by my dear husband, who'd be done for hours)

All done!

Today, I feel like I got hit by a truck. I guess that's what hitting the asphalt at 18mph will do to you. Ick!

6. It was warm...
but worse, it was kind of windy. My husband's race finished early, when it was still nice and cool. But after spending 30 minutes in the medics' tent, and having taken breaks with friends earlier on, it was hot by the time I finished.
I haven't gotten out of bed yet today....

9. thanks. my helmet and knee...
took the brunt of the hit. my head is actually bruised from where it hit the inside of my helmet. knocked me silly for a minute, but i didn't pass out. i have to tell you, it scared the crap out of me. i was really determined to finish.

i just bought a new mountain bike. i can't wait to get it-it's a specialized myka elite. i'm excited for mtb racing season.

10. there's nothing quite as life affirming as really eating it hard on your byke..
glad to hear that you're okay! that speciaized myka looks like a real nice whip! i'm partial to the giants, but have owned specialized in past, and they produce some fine equipment. have fun out there!
