"This is all about me." - Rex Ryan on Pats-Jets playoff game
Edited on Wed Jan-12-11 06:24 AM by SpiralHawk
Well, that ain't exactly what he said. But it sure as hell what it sounds like...

From today's New York Times:

"Ryan spent 20 minutes Monday afternoon setting his agenda for the week. He boiled the Jets’ playoff game Sunday against New England down to one element, the head coaches, himself versus Bill Belichick. It made for a good story. If only it were true."

1. Pats-Jets all-time series record is 51-51-1.

"...the Jets and the Patriots are startlingly evenly matched, at least statistically.

"They split the two regular-season games, although when they played last month — presumably a truer barometer of the teams now — the Patriots obliterated the Jets, 45-3..."

Nice setup for this game...

2. I think he is trying to take the heat off of his players.
Say something like this so that this is what everyone talks about and the players can focus on the game. In my opinion he has done this is the past, too. Like him or don't, he knows how to coach.

4. That's exactly what he's doing, and it's smart.
His players aren't having to answer questions about the last meetup because Ryan has all the reporters talking about him instead. He's playing the media better than Madonna does.

5. LOL---
he should just shut the fuck up.

Shula---Walsh---Noll--- even Bill B. ---they don't talk smack---and they are proven winners.

Ryan hasn't one shit and he talks like he's the King.

Fat fucking douchebag with a kinky as skanky ass foot sucking wife.

6. You say kinky like it's a bad thing!
:P

Hey, his approach isn't mine. I would shut the fuck up and concentrate on football, but there's zero doubt in my mind that had he not done this his team would answering questions all week about the 45-3 drubbing they took last time. Instead they're talking about other things. It's a smart thing if intentional (and I believe it is), though the team still has to back it up.

Personally, as silly as Rex can be, I'd play for the guy in a heartbeat. He covers his team's ass, he's passionate, and as a player you can count on his having your back. And he's not too bad in the part that really counts...X's and O's.

I'd rather play for the ones you mention, but still..... :)

12. Right after he puts his best foot forward
And when NE puts the boots to Rex's running game, which means taking the feet out from under LT, Ryan will be expected to foot the bill.

7. Like Palin, Jets fear is obvious in their words
Running their mouths and diverting attention from

STARK REALITIES

9. Well, At The Very Least. . .
. . .the act is getting old. I'm hoping NE wins just so we don't have to hear from Rex and his band until next August.

10. You know a team is being obnoxious when they make people root for the Patriots.

13. How Right You Are?
Seems like rooting for the Yankees in the late 1920's because another team was just too damned good.

11. Also...he's needs to get Giants fans to tune in...even to root against Jets.

8 out of 10 NY area sports fans are Giants fans.
The NFL front office and CBS love this shit....if not .... helped Rex along(wink wink).

14. Looks like Rex actually did figure out the Pats.
Pretty solid first half. Brady looked not so comfortable this time around.

15. I was impressed that they were able to get to him on 3-man rushes
It is impressive to me as a Cardinals' fan because Arizona needs to blitz to rack up sacks.
