Bring back Morgan and Miller!
Or get rid of Hershiser. Dan Shulman is good. Bobby Valentine isn't very, but he's tolerable for now. I'm going to be sick of him by the end of the year. But Orel makes me climb a wall. He is so... well anel. And he was so condescending about Manny, I could just scream. Miss Goody Two Shoes.

1. Tim McCarver was ragging all over Manny yesterday, too.

Tim Fucking McCarver! What a useless piece of turd. That's one guy I would love to shut up personally.

3. I heard that.
I just really hate that guy. Even more than Bob Costas.

8. Read October '64
and you may have your mind changed. First off, McCarver was a terrific player but better that that he is a good human being. He was Bob Gibson's roommate and during the turbulent 60"s roomed with an African American. It was an important statement made by a southerner(similar to Pee Wee Reese putting his arm around Jackie Robinson's shoulder)

2. +1
I didn't understand the change in the first place, though for selfish reasons it means we get more Jon Miller for Giants games. He's fabulous on radio, and doing local broadcasts allows him to be looser, more anecdotal, and a heck of a lot funnier.

4. On of the best things to happen in 2010 was the
Announcement that finally a long suffering baseball nation would be saved from the affliction that is called Joe Morgan. I'm not sure anyone else in the HoF (did Joe mention he was in the HoF?), living or deceased, could provide less insight into a baseball game, the mind of a manager, or on one of his favorite subjects, "the cutter".

5. God, I really miss Dizzy Dean and Pee Wee Reese.
And even Joe Garagiola

6. For our local games, I think we have one of the best color guys.
IMHO, Jerry Remy is as good as anyone. After missing him for much of the '09 season (lung cancer, I believe) and having to listen to his fill ins, I appreciate him all the more.

Dean and Reese did the CBS games together in the 60's didn't they? It was a little before my time.

9. For my money the greatest 2nd baseman ever
and I liked him. He always made one thing clear. Willie may's was the greatest ever. It seems that in today's world somehow Hank Aaron has surpassed Willie as the better player but to anyone around at the time there is no doubt who was the more dominate player. hank had a longer career but was not nearly as good a player.

12. Great 2nd baseman, unbearable broadcaster.
Edited on Wed Apr-13-11 12:13 AM by hughee99
Hey, people can't be good at everything. I'm sure Vin Scully wasn't much with the bat or the glove.

I never got to see Morgan play in person, so I can only really go off of stats for best 2nd baseman of all time, but I'd put my money on Eddie Collins or Rogers Hornsby. Morgan would be near the top of that list, though. As a sports broadcaster, I'd put Morgan somewhere in the "Magic Johnson" neighborhood.

The best 2nd baseman I've seen in person would probably be Biggio or Alomar, who would both rank below Morgan.

11. I just about cried when I heard this story last year.
I always enjoyed the Miller/Morgan broadcasts. It was McCarver and Buck that drove me up a wall.

The absence of Neihaus on the Mariner broadcasts is glaring. Dave Henderson has the same problem of referring to himself and his career for every single comment he makes. Sometimes his insights are good, like predicting they would walk Ichiro in the bottom of the ninth last night if the count got to 2-0, but his "I was an athlete, I knew so-and-so" is getting old.

13. However bad these guys are they are still oodles better
than that IDIOT Rob Dibble, who now is claiming that the Nats never fired him because he's "still getting paid". Even though he doesn't do the broadcasts anymore..AAAAAAAARGH.:banghead:
