I think he looked very good. The fight was one-sided. I think Vargas went into the ring with a bad back, but that isn't Mosley's fault. He landed some hard right hand shots to the body, that caused Vargas to stand up pretty straight by the middle of the second round. Shane was punching as hard as I've seen him -- clearly he is adding enough in power to make up for any loss of speed. When Vargas started the last round, I told my son to watcvh where he was holding his hands -- he was more intent on avoiding Mosley's power than in landing punches. When he started trying to move backward, I said it was a matter of minutes until he was knocked out. I barely got the words out, and he was down. The way he tried to move his legs supports the hurt back theory.
Vargas was a man in defeat. I was impressed by the way he conducted himself afterward. He has not been one of my favorites, but he was a warrior. Never a boring fight with him in the ring.
Could Mosley be entering a "second prime"? Some older guys mature, and use their ring smarts to make up for any lose in physical skills. There are a couple very interesting fights that he could make at welterweight. Best of luck to one of the class acts of professional sports.
