Question about Peyton Manning and Brian Urlacher
Is it true that Manning donated money to Bush in 2004 while Urlacher donated to Kerry and other Democratic candidates? I wouldn't be real surprised if Manning did, it seems a lot of quarterbacks tend to be Republicans for some reason or another, plus he's from the south. It's going to be really tough for me to still root for the Colts knowing he's a Bushie.

1. It's true that Manning gave to bush and that Urlacher gave to democratic congressman Luis Guttierez
Newsmeat doesn't have any other donations listed for Urlacher, though: http://www.newsmeat.com/sports_political_donations/Brian_Urlacher.php

4. I've read here that Manning was a Bush pioneer
I have no verification personally but have read that here on DU half a dozen times.

5. Manning = Republicans
Manning has also given to other Republicans. I know he gave to Republican in the last election cycle. I think he gave to some hard core Republicans. He might have given to the guy that ran against Harold Ford Jr. I am not sure if Manning actually gave to that particular Republican, but I do believe he gave to at least one hard core Republican.

6. Bob Cocker
Manning gave a donation to Bob Cocker. Here is the paragraph from David Zirin that talks about the donation. There is a link to the whole article which lists other athletes who gave donations in the last election cycle.

"In one of the most closely watched contests in the country, Colts All-World quarterback Peyton Manning gave $2,100 to Tennessee Republican Senatorial candidate Bob Corker during his bitter primary battle where he barely fended off a right-wing challenge. Now Corker is running against Harold Ford who aims to be the first African-American elected to the Senate in the south since reconstruction. Ford is to the right of Ghengis Khan - but still to the left of Corker who seems to be channeling Bull Conner in his handling of the campaign."
