Tar Heels Top Duke 79-73

North Carolina roared back from a 5-point deficit at halftime to score a 79-73 win over the Blue Devils.

Branden Wright led the Tar Heels with 19 points, nailing 75 percent of his field goal attempts. Jon Scheyer led scoring for Duke with 26 points, scoring four out of 10 from the three-point line.

UNC’s Tyler Hansbrough hit 5 out of 9 field-goal attempts for 16 points. Ty Lawson came up big for the Tar Heels in the second half, knocking in 15 points.

Gerald Henderson knocked in 14 points for the Blue Devils, and Greg Paulus added 15 more to Duke’s total.

I'm so proud of our guys for not letting the Dookies' runs get them down, for turning up the "D", and rebounding with intensity down the stretch. Tyler is truly the best freethrow-shooting big man in the nation. And Tywon Lawson is the best point guard, bar none. What a comeback after the N.C. State game! This was quite a statement by our guys that, when the chips are down, they're not about to fold up. Roy's got 'em back and ready to hit their stride.

With Maryland up 50-40 with 13:49 left in the game, one fan held up a sign with a picture of a caveman, familiar on television as a car insurance pitchman.

5. Ha Ha Duke..

Way to go Terps. How is it now that no matter how much the Terps seem to struggle that they can almost always beat Duke at least once? Coach K can it be that Gary Williams outcoaches you?
Also I bet the Lady Terps end up meeting Duke in the tournament again. MD-Duke is getting close to NC-Duke with both men's and women's teams in terms of intense rivalry.
