Nice gesture by the Washington Nationals Tuesday Night
The team was playing the Braves and they wore Virginia Tech ball caps for the game. Classy act.

1. I thought it was nice, too
I'll tell you one thing, whenever a VT team takes the field from now on, they will have a huge instant fan base. It just about broke my heart to see that poor kid in his band uniform who was shot.

3. Great move
I read in the Washington Post that a fan suggested it via email to team president Stan Kasten and they called a local Sports Authority who donated caps for the entire team.

4. what I love is that the Nats had to ask
for the caps to be donated. What, Stan Kasten doesn't have a corporate card? it's a nice gesture (although they didn't wear them the entire game, based on an image of a play in the 6th in the Post when people are definately wearing red Ws) but come on, the Nats don't have $600 to spare?

NASCAR is also allowing drivers to put VT logos on their cars the next tow races. Shame that the NBA wasn't bright enough to allow Stackhouse to do his Jackie Robinson tribute on Sunday (since he's #42, he wanted to replace his name with "Robinson" for the day, the league refused.)

5. Stackhouse not being permitted to wear Robinson 42 is so stupid, it's sad. nt

6. So are the Nats going to join the ACC?
They might even finish above .500, though a league title would still be a bit of a stretch. :-)

Seriously, way to go, Nats! Also note that the MLS Houston Dynamo, featuring Hawai'i soccer hero Brian Ching, will be wearing maroon 'n' orange Hokie-colored unies for their April 29 match home to Chicago Fire.

Maybe some of the NFL teams could start wearing NOLA fleurs-de-lis? Oh, wait a minute... :-)

7. We have quite a large fleur de lis
collection at the house. I bought my sister in law a very nice and somewhat pricey fleu de lis necklace for Christmas. Its in the Saints colors. Her husband is a puke Cowboy Fan. She can't wear the necklace on game day.

Another favorite since the hurricane is the cities manhole covers in every possible useage. Switchplates, floor mats, earrings, christmas tree ornaments and on and on. Very nice.

8. Very nice
And good for MLB for letting them do it - we know the NFL (and probably the NBA, for that matter) would've fined a player if they had worn a VT cap.
