2. Only four SEC teams in the top ten - Outrageous
The ninth of January and Ohio State's already being set up for end of the year failure. Shouldn't there be some compassion and rank OSU where they belong? Lets say 18th. Maybe they can win a bowl game around Christmas next year.

5. You're right
Two teams from the SEC East and two teams from the SEC West. So who is gonna beat OSU next year in the championship game?

7. Hey
I'm just following NCAA rules. Thou shalt not keep the Buckeyes out of the championship game regardless of whether they deserve to be there or not. And they have been very strict in enforcing this rule lately.

Whew, I can't believe it. January 9th and we (I) am already arguing about next year.

Just as an aside and a demonstration of polls and what they might do for or to a team: There are two undefeated teams in the Women's NCAA top twenty. Number One ranked CT and Number 20 ranked Arkansas. Arkansas was preseason ranked about 427th. They had to win 15 games with no losses to claw there way into the top 20.

8. Interesting. One more rivalry. I've been following the Huskies
Edited on Wed Jan-09-08 10:43 AM by madinmaryland
for quite a few years (lived there 20+ years), and have seen the UConn program evolve over the years with Jim Calhoun and Gino Auriemma. Haven't really tracked basketball this year, as football and primary season seem to be monopolizing my time!

On edit: Thanks for recognizing the rule that the Buckeyes are required by NCAA rules to be in the championship game!

11. I'll wait for the Sporting News annual
They pretty much nail it every year. Preseason ratings are wagering gold. I studied the sources for a decade and Sporting News is most accurate, followed by Phil Steele. In basketball it's Sporting News followed closely by Blue Ribbon.

TSN top 4 in '07 were USC, LSU, Michigan and West Virginia. It can be argued those 4 teams were the 4 most impressive in bowl games. Everything returns to the beginning.
