The NFC championship game is bound to be an utter disaster
Edited on Mon Jan-14-08 10:57 AM by BOSSHOG
One team is quarterbacked by a geriatric from Southern Mississippi University and the other team is quarterbacked by a baby faced kid from the SEC School University of Mississippi. And, as everybody on DU sports knows, no one from the south, particularly the SEC can play in winter weather. Just look at how terrible the old guy from the (literally) one stoplight town of Kiln Mississippi played last weekend. Just what do the Pack see in him?

addiction to painkillers to get used to Green Bay winters. And when you are a redneck town, it helps to have a redneck quarterback (and I mean that in the best way, I don't think that Chicago, New York or DC would have been quite as welcoming of Brett as Green Bay was, nor as patient during the initial rebuilding)

but yeah, it won't be nearly as much fun as watching the WAC scrub go against the greatest qb of all time (so far) who just happens to be, wait, is Michigan in the SEC now?

5. And imagine
The most athletic Manning, Cooper, was sidelined early with a spinal problem. Wouldn't it be great to have three brothers do well in the league at the same time, especially ones that parents could consider role models.

LOLOL. I don't like the Mannings much. Though I have to admit, they don't seem to make very MUCH off the field news.

9. The Manning family members
are well respected in the New Orleans area. I think there was a story about some sexist nonsense Peyton got into in College or right out of college. It will be a sad day for the NFL if the Patriots win the Super Bowl. Billichick wanna be's are just sitting back knowing that if they cheat in the future nothing will happen to them. In fact, they probably will have fine payoffs put into their contracts. But if no one cares about right and wrong who knows which of the two you will have made into a standard.

10. What about Eli refusing to play for the team that drafted him?
That bugged me too, especially when his father stepped in to take care of matters.

I hope it's a Patriots/Green Bay final, and frankly, I don't know who'd I'd root for. It would be win win for me.

12. That was a business decision
And it may have worked out for all concerned parties. And I think its great that his Dad helped out. I recall when I got to my first duty station in the Navy I told the crusty old Chief that I was homesick as hell and he said Good, that means somewhere there's a Mom and Dad who you love and who loves you right??

Packers/Patriots would be the classic good versus evil battle. Unfortunately evil is still allowed to participate by the NFL setting a precedent which one day may be regretted.

16. Peyton Manning is a whiny crybaby
When he lost the Heisman to Charles Woodson, he was dumbfounded. "But, but...that's why I came back for my senior year!" Even in those home videos they always show of him playing football with his brothers, he's complaining that they aren't playing fair.

If they're helping New Orleans, that's great, but they're still Republicans as far as I know. And have a huge sense of entitlement because they're Archie Manning's sons.

I'll admit Peyton was funny when he hosted SNL. And I like that ESPN commercial where the Mannings are taking the tour and Peyton and Eli keep hitting each other. But if I have to see that terrible one where he's running through the hallway while that disembodied voice is saying "30 seconds to sack" I'm going to lose my mind.

seen the commercial where Matt Leinart is tossing the ball around with Archie in their back yard? I don't even recall what the product was they were selling but it was a funny spot. What would one be entitled to being Archie Mannings Son?

24. and if Peyton Manning and his coach
hadn't thrown the last game of the season, the football gods wouldn't have punished them with a loss. it's really that simple.

13. Thats funny
Every post season big ten fans drag out the horse and the rest of us are supposed to ignore it?? I have to chuckle. I guess I should just wink and nod at the fact that bellichick is still in the playoffs while wouldbe billichicks see what happens to people who cheat. Nothing. Just another dead horse.

15. If the SEC teams keep winning, why do you even give a damn?
And Belichick got caught and was punished. Do you seriously think they wouldn't be 16-0 if that camera wasn't there? That's just sad if you do.

17. Not the issue
and he wasn't punished. There is no detriment for anyone to do it again. What has resulted from a fine and loss of a draft choice? Nothing. I'm glad the NFL wasn't administering the UCMJ when I was in the Navy.

18. I am
not familiar with that situation. I can only keep up with so many rules violations. Was there any punishment? And was it a detriment to future such action?

Its like the only way a steroid user can get in trouble is to lie about it to congress or federal investigators and then they are not getting in trouble for taking steroids. Does not speak well of the MLB.

22. I don't remember if it was in 2005 or 2006
but I think it was mainly rumors from the team they were playing (I think it was the Texas Rangers). I guess MLB didn't take the accusations seriously enough.

It was a while ago so details are sketchy in my mind.
