The Second Best record in the NBA so far??
The New Orleans Hornets who have been a very nice surprise. Three good scorers (West, Paul and Stojakovic) and a pretty good rebounder in Tyson Chandler hosting the Denver Nuggets tonight with Carmelo questionable with an ankle injury.

BUT, the Hornets aren't averaging 14,375 ticket sales which could allow the team to opt out of their contract at the end of the 09 season.

As soon as we get Mardi Gras cleaned up the Big Easy will host the NBA All-Star Game next month. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it will be an incredibly successful production.

2. Hey Boss! You trying to get those Boston fans stirred up?
34-8?

BTW, it does look like the Hornets have put together a good squad this year!

3. Far be it from ME!
The Hornets are wanting to have the best record in the West by 3 February (which they have now) so the Hornets coaching staff will do the All-Star game which conveniently this year is in New Orleans. The team is the BUZZ of the town right now (pardon the pun.) They've won nine in a row and 7 of those 9 by at least 14. Hope its not just a passing phase.

11. This is terrible!
How could the Pistons have fallen off the map like this? Are they the John Edwards of the Eastern Conference? It's the media!

9. They have to average 14,375?? What a strange
attendance figure to decide upon!

If they opt out, I'm guessing they could end up back in OKC, right?

I'm happy to see Peja apparently doing well, considering a sneeze can throw out his back.

He was a lot of fun to watch when he played in Sacramento.

10. They are about 1,500 per game behind that right now
The owner is cool to returning to OKC. He says he wants to stay in New Orleans and the clause might be an incentive to put seats in the seats, a good incentive. I don't know where that figure came from, possibly tied to anticipated revenues.

12. They're a fun team to watch....
And like the Blazers, a team with a nice young nucleus; Chris Paul is a superstar. I hope they find a way to stay in New Orleans.

14. My go-to NOLA blogger has a terrific idea: host a Hornets game or two at the Dome
thereby bumping up those aveage attendance figures.

http://ashleymorris.typepad.com/ashley_morris_the_blog/2008/01/yes-definitely.html

Thanks to JoeJoeJoe, my proposal for the Hornets to play a game or two a season in the Superdome is getting legs. Here it is on ESPN's TrueHoop Tuesday bullets.

Maybe we could get that Zirin guy to publicize it as well...

Update 2: It gets even more legs. And yes, it is gimmicky. A gimmick that may keep the Hornets in New Orleans.
