Sports Trivia Involving Politics
Can anyone without going to google name the person who the NBA championship trophy is named after? In addtion, can you state how that person is important to American history, besides having a trophy named after them? If you cannot answer the question without going to google you are free to do so. I do happen to know the answer to both question in that I was made aware of the answers last night.

1. Larry O'Brien, who was Chairman of the Democratic National Committee
during the 70s, and whose office was the target of the Watergate break in. I knew that without using a search engine.

2. Really? I did not know that
I remember O'Brien being the commish but I did not know that.

BTW the main reason they broke into the DNC HQ was to find out if Howard Hughes had been talking to the Dems and WHAT he had been saying. Seems there was a loooong running feud between he and Nixon dating back to a loan Hughes made to Nixon's brother. It gets really convoluted, two men fighting over petty stuff as one goes mad and the other ruins himself over it.

3. O'Brien was also an advisor to John Kennedy.
He was part of the Irish mafia in the Kennedy White House that also included Chief of Staff Kenny O'Donnell and "special advisor" David Powers.
