1. I heard it was going to be
basically the same deal TO got a few years ago (3 years/$25 million) adjusted for the 14% increase in the salary cap.

2. I don't know, I only watched the beginning of the news.
Needed music after the first couple of minutes of craptacular news coverage on channel 7. :)

3. Done.
"I am pleased to confirm that Randy Moss has signed a three year contract with the New England Patriots. The contract calls for a total payout of $27 million with $15 million guaranteed, $12 million of which is in the form of a signing bonus. Randy is grateful to Mr. Kraft, Coach Belichick and Scott Pioli for agreeing to the terms of this contract. Randy was serious about wanting to stay. Because of Randy's record-breaking year, the interest in him was very high. Randy took less than he could have to rejoin his teammates."

The Patriots announced the signing of WR Randy Moss tonight.

“What Randy did for our team last year was outstanding," coach Bill Belichick said in a statement. "He is one of our most consistent, competitive and team-oriented players and it is undoubtedly a relationship we are excited to continue.”

The Patriots also announced the signing of WR Sam Aiken.

"Competing against Sam many times over the years, we know firsthand what he brings to us," Belichick said in a statement. "We're glad he is a Patriot.”

4. I'm glad they kept him
Randy Moss deserves a chance to be great, not the disinterested underachiever like his Raider years, and that Patriot team deserves a second chance to get it right.

Just not undefeated right.

5. I don't think anyone has to worry about them being undefeated.
11-5 would be nice. Time to start a slight rebuilding process here. The offense should be fine, but the defense will need help. Bruschi and Vrabel are up there in age and will probably play just this one more year. The front three is among the best in the game with Seymour, Wilfork and Warren, but the secondary needs help fast, and after the starting LB's they isn't much there.

6. I agree with all of that
But the offseason tends to camouflage how imbalanced the league has become. There's a reason we've seen starts like 13-0, 9-0 and 18-0 in recent seasons.

Once ESPN starts breaking down every team heading into the draft and offseason, applying more or less even weight, there's a false sense of where things stand. Then the games begin and suddenly it's evident we only have a handful of premier QBs combined with top flight head coaches.
