If Frank Broyles, (The Athletic Department God of Arkansas) ever wore a Longhorn logo of any sort on his person, I think the Athletic Department building in Fayetteville (THE Fayetteville) would be burnt to the ground.

1. Oh man, you should read the UNC forums
Some fans are calling for his head and questioning his motivations. Some of them are really pissed because Roy didn't accompany his team home.

I don't know what they'd do if they saw the picture of Roy out golfing, signing a Hooter girl's shirt and laughing while his team was recovering at home. :eyes: Here's the link to the pictures of Roy out having fun. http://www.withleather.com/post.phtml?pk=5453

2. Another Coach Fired
I think another coach was fired for doing something similar. The other guy may have been worse in that he actually went to a party at the school after his team was defeated by the school's team. In addition, I think that coach had done something similar before. Do you have any links to the forums? I would like to read some of them. Have you gone to the ESPN College Basketball forum?

4. Eustachy got fired from Iowa State a few years ago
Edited on Wed Apr-09-08 12:21 PM by Mabus
when pictures showed up of him hanging on college girls with beer in hand at a frat party. He allegedly made remarks along the lines the the girls in Lawrence were hotter than those at some of the other Big XII schools. I'll try to dig that stuff up after I take hubby to the dentist.

At least Roy wasn't at a drunken frat party and didn't get photographed with a beer in his hand.
on edit: here's the Eustachy stuff

Here's the quote:

A Kansas State student, Nicole Wenger, said Eustachy showed up at the Kappa Sigma fraternity house hours after the Cyclones lost to Kansas State on Jan. 19, 2002.

Wenger was quoted as saying Eustachy complimented her on her looks and asked where she was from. She replied she was from Lawrence, Kan.

"He was like, 'What are you doing here? Why aren't you going to KU? The girls down there are much hotter. You belong there,' " Wenger told the Register.

Now, I have to go get my husband or he's going to be pissed.

8. Forum links
I hang out on the Scout.com forums

Here's a link to the listing of college forums http://college.scout.com/

if you want to check out a particular school you just search for it and click on their forum link. fwiw, some of the forums are pretty dead. The Jayhawk forum (a.k.a. phog.net) is pretty active as are its participants. They/we have had Phog Phlock tailgate parties before football games. They also do listings of where to watch KU games around the country.

I also go to places like http://rivals.com/ and http://www.takkle.com/ to check out possible recruits.

Enjoy!

3. Sports Talk radio was on fire here in Charlotte re Roy-boy's Jayhawk sticker...
on his shirt during the final. Put your self in a UNC fan's place. The overall favorite to win the Championship is crushed by Kansas by 19 points and a day later your coach is wearing the logo from the team that whacked you in public and on national TV.

Not bright. Roy's a jerk. A real jerk. He'll just say the UNC people (that pay his $2 million per year salary) should just STFU.

5. I think that RW used poor judgement
Edited on Wed Apr-09-08 05:45 PM by Hokie
He should know that die hard fans and students would have been devastated by the loss. I guess it shows when you are making $2 million per year even if you flop in prime time that life goes on and is very good. I would have seen nothing wrong with attending the game or even privately rooting for KU but don't flaunt it in front of UNC fans. I will bet they will remember this in Chapel Hill for a long long time.

6. Exactly. Especially just 48 hours after what some are calling UNC's....
worst loss in history and a blow out loss at that.

7. Imagine the fodder
next year for Cameron Crazies. There may be a sea of Jayhawks in the student section when UNC travels to Duke.

9. The first season that Roy was at UNC, the dookies had it in for him
According to what I heard when the UNC team was being introduced at Cameron the dookies were using the names of KU players. When a UNC player's name was called out, the dookies would say "Hi Wayne", "Hi Aaron" and so forth. Then, during the game they did some Rock Chalk chants. The dookies came on some KU forums to get the cheers that were used by KU fans during KU basketball games just to mess with Roy's head. They also decorated the area outside the locker room like the "Wizard of Oz" and some of them dressed up like characters from "Wizard of Oz".

I think the KU stores will be shipping Jayhawk stickers out to them next season. Here's one website advocating the use of posters. http://theivybush.blogspot.com/2008/04/ol-roy.html
