Colt McCoy didn't look real happy.
Neither did I.

But it's not like Sam Bradford didn't deserve it. It's just like if Texas had had a chance....

1. What can you say?
Texas pretty well got hosed by the BCS..and with it went McCoy's Heisman chances.

The guy must really blow :eyes:

5. I know. Had he won a third, he might have been issued a
proclomation by Free Republic.

You can say a lot about the freepers, but they're definitely loyal toward their right wing fundamentalist christian conservative athletes.

6. I was not part of the last "Tebow being a fundie" thread, but I did
read through it. Please, let's not go down that road again. Yes, he's a devout Christian, but the rest of what you're saying is just an assumption. And frankly, even if you're right, it doesn't change the fact that Tebow's a great QB.

8. Yea, well this is DEMOCRATIC UNDERGROUND. And it happens
to be a sports forum within DEMOCRATIC UNDERGROUND.

So what's your problem?

I'm not going to give right wingers a pass just because they're athletes.

What's being said about Tebow, and what's been written about Tebow is very likely not an assumption.

How many fundies do you know who are Democrats and how many fundies to you know embrace the issues most of us rally around?

Right. Practically zero.

So I'll continue calling out Tebow as a fundie just as I call out that moran Curt Schilling as a huge Bush-lover -- which he is.

Who cares if TeBow a great QB? He sounds like another Steve Largent politician in the making.

10. "Very likely not an assumption"?
That pretty much means "It's an assumption."

I hardly know any fundies to begin with, but I wouldn't deny that most of them are right wingers. Still, even if we were to assume that Tebow is against abortion rights, gay marriage, stem cell research, etc how do we know where he stands on environmental issues? The War on Terror? Economic issues? It's wrong to make that kind of assumption about him. I'll leave it at that.

13. Are you kidding me? You think he's a right wing fundamentalist
christian conservative who's actually in favor of a woman's right to choose...who is in favor of gay equality, who is in favor of stem cell research?

Maybe in the movies. But I know you're probably not so naive as to believe Tebow is some progressive fundie.

Right rep the dems?

19. To be honest, I think God is punishing him for too much
"V", if you know what I'm saying, before marriage.

I read somewhere that he admits to being unable to control his fundie prohibition on sex.

So, I say good for him.

See? I can say something nice about your player!

18. It'swollen solid from all of the B.S. that's been packed into his
right wing noggin.

I'm surprised he attended Satan's Alma Mater.

He's going to have to get exercised after the season I bet!

28. I heard all three finalists play the God Card....
not just Tebow. Maybe it's like running for office in that you have to say nice things about god or you can't get elected.

Tebow does more god talk than the other two guys and came in 3rd this year yet came in 1st last year.

Tebow is the last guy I think that will come close.

if OU doesn't win this year, but avoids getting blown out.
We have a very, very young team. And hopefully Sam sticks around a little longer.

The guy better have a good broadcasting voice and presence because the kid is going nowhere in the NFL.

7. I read a comment on ESPN...
about Sam Bradford not being eligible because he's not American, since he was born in Indian Territory.:eyes:
Honestly, I wouldn't have cared if McCoy won, because at least the award would have stayed in the Big 12.

So Sebastian Janikowski (Florida State) wouldn't have been eligible because he was born in Poland? (as opposed to having no shot because he's a placekicker :-) )?! :dunce: :dunce: :dunce:

Figures some FReepazoid would confuse the Heisman with the presidency! :eyes: God help us (literally) if Tebow had won...

21. The BCS decided the Heisman Trophy this year...
...had Texas played in the game against Missouri, they would have romped also, and McCoy would have had had one more chance just like Bradford was given...I don't think Bradford would have won otherwise...the BCS sucks.
