I thought it was the New Orleans Hornets. What's with the jerseys? I'm confused!

Forgive me. I'm not much of a basketball fan.

2. I finally found it >>

A team for two whole years in the old ABA.

Were these jerseys really necessary?

3. Uhmm. The ABA died in the late 70's when they wore "shorty-shorts"
Unless those were "throw-back" jerseys. If they were throw-back then why weren't they wearing the shorty-shorts also?

:wtf:

4. I thought about that too.
Maybe football teams should play without face masks too when they wear throwback unis.

But can someone tell me if the old New Orleans Buccaneers were the only pro basketball team that NOLA ever had? That would put a little significance on the thing.

5. New Orleans Jazz were one of the four ABA teams to move into the NBA.
Are the NO Buccaneers a semi-pro/minor league team??

6. I think the Jazz were NBA all along
But this team had one convoluted history. According to Wiki these were the ABA teams that constituted their history:

New Orleans Buccaneers
Louisiana Buccaneers
Memphis Pros
Memphis Sounds
Baltimore Hustlers
Baltimore Claws

They then folded.

I was surprised to see that Charlie O. Finley once owned them.

7. The Hornets
have adopted the old Buccaneers Uniform as their throwback. The Bucs logo is popular in New Orleans. For the locals I think the Jerseys are necessary.

The University of New Orleans (UNO) mascot is the Privateers. Pirates and witchcraft and booty are still quite popular in and around the Bayous near the Big Easy. If one drinks enough they can see The Pirate Jean Paul Lafitte and Marie Lavou Strolling in the quarter in the fog in the early morning hours.
