1. Definitely a cb. He runs real good interference for an upton.
and vice versa.

3. Wrong. OT, DT, RB, LB, QB, CB, TE, WR
Give me a great offensive and defensive lines, a great running, and great linebackers, and I will make the playoffs every year.

In one room sits Dan Marino, John Elway, and Jim Kelly. In another room sits Mark Rypien, Brad Johnson, and Trent Dilfer. Which room has more SB winners?

9. RB is least important.
Better to have a good blocker. Running is just not as special as blocking.

25. RB is important.
Yes having blockers is more important, but without a running game, the defense can focus on passing and usually wins (just ask Dan Marino).

10. The Steelers went nowhere until they got Big Ben in 2004.
QB is most important.

16. Nowhere?
Before Big Ben, they made the playoffs almost every year under Cowher. They went to AFC championship game three times, and they made it to the SB in 1996.

Yes, Big Ben put them over the top, but they were successful even before Big Ben.

26. well, one could easily do the same with running backs.
In one room sits Walter Payton, Barry Sanders, and Eric Dickerson. In another sits Michael Pittman, Edgar Bennett, and Joe Morris. Which room has more SB wins?

Incidentally, if one compares the top 10 running backs in the Super Bowl era (by career yards) with the top 10 Quarterbacks (by career yards), the top 10 QBs have more appearances (16 to 12) but the RBs have more wins (9 to 7).

If you use QB rating instead of yards to determine the top QB, the top 11 QBs (still have 16, but they have a record of 13-3 in the Super Bowl. (Note--one of those appearances and wins gets an asterisk: Steve Young appeared in 2 SBs, both wins, but he was only the starter in 1.)

6. Blindside tackle is the most important.
I don't care how good your QB is, he's not going to perform if he's constantly being put on his back. At this level, most QBs can make the throws when they have the time to do so - it's getting them the time that is really important.

Next is the middle of the defense - DTs, and LBs, for run stopping, then CBs for shutting down the passing game. The QB comes in after that, and probably a good WR before anybody else given the pass-happy game encouraged by the current rulebook.

Most RBs are replaceable - you can find a guy on the free agent market, or in the draft, that will probably approximate what you have now, should what you have now become too expensive. Stabilize the offensive line, and the rushing yards will follow.

11. This was also a big part of Miami's improvement this year.
Jake Long wasn't fantastic, but he was certainly solid. That's a big upgrade over the clowns that were playing at that position the past few years, and it certainly helped Chad Pennington do what he did.

12. Basically agree, though I would flip CB and OT depending on the QB
A QB with limited mobility needs greater protection.

17. It's tough to just list positions like that
Teams need to build around solid lines, both offensively and defensively. Once that is accomplished, it's a little easier to list the positions in order of importance.

QB- Have a very good QB and your team will almost always be in the hunt
Pass Rushers- You need to have them either on the D-Line or at Line Backer. It's the only sure fire way to stop another team's offense.
WR- Have a tall fast WR and you are going to be able to pass the ball down field
CB- Used to be a more important position, but less so now that the league is so strict on contact

20. DE
is worth far more than CB. You only have to look at the Giants victory over the Patriots for evidence.
