T.O. released from Cowgirls. Where does he go from here?
Reports: T.O. released by Cowboys
NFL.com Wire Reports

IRVING, Texas -- Terrell Owens' days in Dallas are done, according to multiple reports.

ESPN cited sources Wednesday night in saying that the Cowboys have decided to cut the receiver, ridding them of a big locker-room distraction but also absorbing a big hit on their salary cap.

The team did not immediately have a comment. A spokesman for Owens said he hadn't heard the news, and that Owens was traveling and could not immediately be reached. The Dallas Morning News reported on its web site late Wednesday that Owens was informed of the decision by team officials.

So, where does the highly talented but batshit insane WR go from here? He says he wants to go to a contender but will any contender take him?

I'd take him back, I loved having him here but I doubt there is any way that will happen.

I'm thinking Redskins or Giants but the Raiders are not out of the realm of possibility even though they are not a contender. If he goes there it will be for the money and because no one else will take him.

1. Let's all sit back and watch now as madinmaryland frantically
explains how he never liked TO from begin with.

I'm personally thrilled that Owens' career of celebrating as a visiting player on the Dallas star can continue.

4. I doubt it too
Pennington can't throw the ball more than about 10 yards downfield...what good is a receiver like TO going to do them?

9. Shaun Hill vs Chad Pennington
Edited on Thu Mar-05-09 12:19 PM by trumad
Pennington's average yard per throw: 7.67

Hill's: 7.10

Pennington's longest pass play: 80

Hill's: 48

Pennington's attempt total and interceptions: 476 attempts---7 int's

Hill's Attempt totals and interceptions: 288 attempts----8 int's

Pennington's QB rating---97.4

Hill's QB rating---87.5

In every category---Pennington beats your quarterback.

Oh sure--- you'll talk about his performance in the playoffs--- but he beats Hill there as well because at least he made the playoffs.

Now I'm certain you'll come back with some type of counter that is typical of a Cboy/Upton explanation.

It will be void of facts, and full of hyperbole and strawmans.

Fact: Pennington is much better than Hill.

10. Fact: Chad Pennington is a bum
his numbers are inflated because of Miami's WEAK schedule, opponents had a winning percentage of .461, ..that's W-E-A-K..just like Pennington's arm.

Only ONE win over a playoff team...that's O-N-E...the same number of TD passes Pennington had in the playoffs against the Ravens...while throwing 4 INTs.

Pennington looks like a little boy and throws like a little girl...he will be exposed in the upcoming season when Miami plays a REAL schedule and fails to make the playoffs.

22. Chad Pennington is the most accurate passer of all time.
http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/P/PennCh01.htm

66.0 % completion rate.
2.6 % interception rate (12th best ever)

His long injury history is the only thing keeping him from being recognized as one of the elite QB's of this decade.

Oh,and he threw one more TD in the '08 playoffs than anyone on the Niners roster.

23. It would be a shame if he ended up in the Big Easy.
Drew Brees clearly doesn't need him to put up explosive passing numbers. In fact, I believe his numbers would drop due to Brees having to think about Mr. Headcase getting his touches, lest he pitch a fit on the sidelne.

24. And NOLA already has its share of drama queens
(the good kind.) They have made some moves to shore up their defensive backfield. I hope this TO nonsense is just the local sports talking heads needing something to yak about. Ironically I think Owens nonsense would be lost in the daily aura of the city that care forgot.

25. The Anti-T.O. List
<snip>

As we’re doing with Mike Vick, we’ll be keeping a running tally of all of the teams that have said "thanks" followed immediately by “no thanks” to the possibility of signing receiver Terrell Owens.

Please note that this only reflects teams that already have said that they’re not interested:

The Dallas Cowboys. (Duh.)

The New York Giants.

The Washington Redskins.

The Baltimore Ravens.

The San Francisco 49ers.

The Minnesota Vikings.

The Atlanta Falcons.

The Cleveland Browns.

The San Diego Chargers.

The Philadelphia Eagles.

The New York Jets.

The Tennessee Titans.

The St. Louis Rams.

The New Orleans Saints.

The Houston Texans.

The Jacksonville Jaguars.

Here are the teams that likely will join the list soon:

The Miami Dolphins.

They took the best special teams weapon in football (Devin Hester) and made him a mediocre receiver. Now, he's an unimportant piece of the team.
