is one of my best friends on DU. I have a very high opinion of him.

I think that you and I have always gotten along very well, also. I wish that the two of you would stop the fighting. (Other times, I think we should have a DU boxing card, which could be a great fund-raiser for Skinner.)

It's okay for him to use fag jokes and references, but when I call him on it, he accuses me of using the race and homophobia cards.

I already asked him if he's just joking about some of the things he says about me, and he refuses to answer. In fact, he escalates his homophobic insults.

If it's joking around, I can take it and I don't care. But I don't think it is because trumad refuses to say so.

BTW, I'd be happy to knock his head off of his fat little neck with a simple right hook.

Tennessee Vols (my college)

It's is perfectly acceptable and practically required to root for the school where you went.

This does not violate the rule. It only makes sense one would support the college you attended for four or five or how many years it was.

Spending "some time" in the military and cheering for a team from that area would be acceptable if you're from Montana and don't have any professional sports franchises around.

However, you don't qualify since you're from a state loaded with sports franchises.

You're from the L.A. area. You should root for:

Dodgers and/or Angels
Lakers
Kings and/or Ducks
Rams/Chargers/Raiders (all acceptable)

OR

Giants and/or A's
Raiders and/or 49ers
Warriors
Sharks
Your College/ or if you didn't go to college, a Southern Calif. or Northern Calif. team if you want.
(NO ROOTING FOR TEXAS or OKLAHOMA or FLORIDA or PENN STATE or ALABAMA or any bullshit like that. It must be regional. NO PICKING TEAMS WITH THE BEST SHOT OF WINNING LIKE MADINMARYLAND DOES)


It's clear I don't have the brightest students here in the sports forum. I hope the state takes that into account when it evaluates my teaching performance and test score averages about this subject.

15. It all started with a simple, honest mistake I made talking

about the number of rings Joe Montana won versus the number Steve Young won.

I goofed up, and trumad flew off the handle, and wouldn't let it rest.

I realize trumad was furious about how Dan Marino won zero rings .. but he kept hounding me with comments about how I wasn't a true 49er fan, and how I hadn't make a mistake, but instead just didn't know what I was talking about.

I spent weeks dealing with his abuse, and hardly got any sleep because I was terrified he was going to show up at my office and/or home and throw muriatic acid at me.

This was all before he began resorting to homophobia to try to defeat me.

All he can do now, since I win every argument, is say I'm part of the dumb motherfuckers' club, or call me a racist, or a douche, or claim I sleep with Upton.

He's just as mess, as I'm sure everyone will agree.

in the Lounge .. very few ever venture out of their high school-like clique, because they don't want to face any conflict.

They enjoy their circle jerk atmosphere of babying, and I find it boring and pathetic.

I've got a question, however. How do you know these people are "cool"? I've never met another DUer in my life. They may post good threads but they could be a child molester, too. 26. I have met Beach Baby.

Several times..been to her house..went there for thanksgiving. So yeah, BB is my friend. I've actually met a few DU'ers and talked to some extensively off board. When I says they are good people, I'm not exaggerating.
Most of the DU'ers I have met post in the Lounge..LynneSin, BB, Lost-in-NJ, ThomCat, Lizerdbits, Mabus, WolverineDG,hell I even met Skinner and EarlG in January......
I find the lounge to be a nice social fun place....

33. There are some really active groups not far from Iowa...

There is a big group in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota that gets togther on a regular basis..I met a whole bunch of them when I went to Mayo last spring...Maybe someday you could meet up with them. They are a VERY friendly bunch...

My wife and I have 17 cats, many with special needs. Getting away for more than a day or two is almost impossible. My mother-in-law is a coupla blocks away, however, special medication and fluids are required. We love them like our children, so it's no big deal. It's the life we've chosen.

There was another one recently -- and it's an ongoing drama -- about someone's stormy relationship with the opposite sex, and why do I keep him since he hits me and OMFG.

It would be one thing if it was a place to joke around in between General Discussion battles, but the lounge is like a fucking virtual psychiatric hospital for people, seeking extremely personal advice.

I find that aspect troubling and a HUGH turnoff .. which is why I've never gotten involved with all of those people who spend their entire existence online in the lounge.

I wouldn't care to meet in real life. I have made some really nice friends in the Lounge and despite your arrogant presumption most of them are high quality people I'm proud to know IRL.
Sorry you seem to have issues with people making friends...Sometimes people are isolated socially for various reasons...Like me having a chronic illness, and the friends they make here become good friends in the real world.
Oh and some people have actually made REAL connections on this board. Theres more than a few married couples that met in the Lounge btw.
