Unbeaten and tough as nails--- I'll be at the Florida Derby next Saturday and hope he has some decent odds to bet him on the nose. He just might fund a night at South Beach for me or a couple of lap dances at Tootsies---or both.

Oh BTW: 2 out of the last 3 KY Derby winners have been FL Derby winners---Barbaro and Big Brown.

3. He's a wise guy horse...
gonna be a little overlooked by the betting public but all the track punters know who he is. Good pick.

Just so you know, trumad, the other day, on one of the racing threads, I told cboy4 to follow Dunkirk trying to get him interested in racing.

I'm going with Friesan Fire. Watch his LA Derby. See how he dropped down and dug in when his jock sent him after the pace setter. After he takes control at the top of the stretch his head comes up and he bounds to the wire like he is having fun. He's experienced and he understands his job. I think he'll be hard to beat at Churchill. He's won on fast tracks and in the slop so he's versatile too.

I hope I didn't drive your odds down.

I love this time of year, too. May the best horse win and maybe, just maybe, we'll finally get another Triple Crown Winner. I'd like to see another one before I die. Have a good time at the FL Derby and I hope you clean up at the windows.

Well---I'm with you on this one--- If Dunkirk wins the Fl Derby and does it impressively-- he's gotta be a fav at the Derby.

BB proved last year that you can win with just a few races under your belt.

13. True as that may be, BB faced a mediocre lot...
as it turned out, so it was easier to whoop 'em and be lightly raced. This year is much deeper with talent. Dunkirk could be anything - guess we'll get a better inkling come Florida Derby time. I'll still take Quality Road in that race ... for now. Have a blast when you go.

I'll be interested to see how the final odds shake out for that race between Dunkirk, Quality Road, and Theregoesjojo.

18. And the plot thickens...
http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/49812/dunkirk-may-get-rabbit-in-fla-derby

As intriguing as the Florida Derby (gr.I) already looks to be, it became even more intriguing when Todd Pletcher, trainer of Dunkirk, said Tuesday he is “strongly considering” running the maiden Europe as a rabbit, in order to prevent Quality Road from getting loose on an easy lead.

So, it looks as if Pletcher will send out a $2.6 million rabbit for his $3.7 million star. Europe, who has only a well-beaten fourth in a five-furlong maiden race, in which he showed no early speed, to his credit, is by Unbridled's Song , out of a Storm Cat mare, and like Dunkirk is owned by the Coolmore connections of Susan Magnier, Michael Tabor, and Derrick Smith. Both colts were purchased at the Keeneland September yearling sale.
