Poll question: What's your opinion on the WBC?
I thought it was great, but I'm sort of a baseball fanatic and I love Internation competitions. Some of the games had the intensity of an October playoff game. I wish I had seen the US comeback over Puerto Rico, but even the US loss to Japan had it's moments of excitement. Kinda dissapointed that it was still largely ignored by the rest of the Country, including DU. I think if some changes are made, like making it count more or changing when it's held can lead to bigger and better audiences. I think the US needs a serious attitude adjustment, much like our basketball team needed, and recognize that other nations take these international events VERY seriously. Otherwise the US will continue to be shutout to teams like Japan, Korea, and Venezuela.

What do you all think?

1. Playing it during spring training is a bad idea.
The thing that would really make this competition interesting is if the teams had a full complement of their younger talent available to them. The problem is that a lot of these players are fighting for jobs on the major league club in Spring Training.

What I think they should do is cut the MLB regular season down to 140 games, or punt the interleague schedule entirely, and pick out one week during April, June, and August and play each round of games during those weeks. We'll get more of the best players at their best, or at least in something resembling real game form, rather than Spring Training form.

3. I am not a fan of it.
To me, it's meaningless. But if the players take pride in playing in it, then I think it should continue.

Please forward that to Team* USA, and also to the Dominican (how do you lose to the Netherlands with a roster of all big-leaguers twice?!)
