Hosts didn't have ghost of chance
MONTREAL - Time will tell if the Bruins have begun a new era, one with significant success and perhaps a Stanley Cup, but they left here last night finally able to put some closure to their long and festering wound of playoff disappointment.

Here in a city once full of ghosts with such haunting surnames as Richard and Beliveau and Lafleur, the Bruins polished off a ghastly Canadiens team, 4-1, and ended their first-round playoff series with a four-game sweep of the faded franchise once known as Les Glorieux.

3. As much as I hate them, I was embarrassed for Montreal last night.
My father and I were talking about this earlier today. The old Canadiens would never have given up like the team did last night. They would have fought until the very end. The team last night folded late in the first when the B's tied the game 1 to 1. And that third period was the most lifeless, demoralized team I've ever seen in my life. To have the Habs play like that was a shock, and as a hockey fan first and Bruins fan second, it frankly disgusted me. I feel for the fans who suffered through that display, because it was a pathetic performance. The GM is lucky the Montreal fans aren't storming his office with torches and pitchforks today.
