in the 1992-1993 season the Penguins won the Presidents Trophy, winning 17 games in a row along the way...yet lost in the second round of the playoffs to the Islanders. So, it's not as if the Pens haven't been over the same ground the Sharks just traveled.

Also keep in mind, the last time the Penguins won a Stanley Cup was at the end of the 1991-'92 season...the same year the Sharks came into being. So, technically, Pittsburgh has been without an NHL title the same length of time as San Jose.

You do realize that your team is a wreck from goal on out. The only defensemen of note on that team is Dan Boyle. You can't get a decent return for anyone on that roster. There is nothing there to replace those guys with from within your system.

That's what I think you miss. What you see is what you get with that team. There is not much further they are gonna go in terms of potential.

We had that problem a few years ago with guys like Blake, Yashin, Parrish, Hamerlick, Aucoin etc. Even though you've won the presidents trophy this season your team has hit the wall. Even worse, the system has completely been ravaged.

The only thing that team gets better is if they tear it apart and start anew. They need to begin with the goal out. That D corp is a mess.

There's always Toronto and Atlanta. Toronto is dumb enough to trade you Thronton for Luke Schenn. Their fan base is dumb enough to eat that up as well.
