Auto racing is not a sport. It is four left turns.

4. Anything that has a "win, place, or show", such as
auto racing, track, downhill skiing, auto racing, etc; because they do not have a set of "rules" in order to score a set number of "points" in order to win a "game". Essentially, those things are "exhibition of skill"; meaning, I can run fast, ride fast or drive fast.

Separately, any thing that has judges determine the winner based on subjective "talent", such as gymnastics, are not sports. They too are exhibitions of skill.

Finally, games that are not "athletic" are not sports, even though they may have a points system and rules, such as chess, Scrabble, or Madden video games.

F1 and IndyCar are auto racing, and have turns of all kinds. I'd also argue that F1 and the like ARE indeed sports.

15. I don't hate NASCAR.
I don't care for it, but I don't hate it. What I said was that NASCAR and other oval/circle track are just left turns, and that "auto racing" as a genre certainly wasn't just that, and then I gave examples of that.

BTW, last time I checked, we do get to have opinions around this place. I'm so terribly sorry if mine doesn't match yours.

19. Well, to start with
NASCAR is not "just left turns" - never has been. All of NASCAR's major series roadrace on occasion, and many NASCAR drivers roadrace successfully in other series.
"Oval" or "circle" is a vast oversimplification. Most "oval" tracks are asymetrical or irregular in plan view, and have every imaginable iteration of elevation change and banking variation. To dismiss them all as "Just left turns" is disingenuous at best, and it's indicative of more than a difference of opinion.

All you're doing is slagging stock cat/sedan racing in an attempt to make yourself feel elite as an F1 fan. lots of luck, and you can have Ecclestone and Moseley.

28. Auto racing
Fairly obvious, an engine dismisses it as a sport. I would say the same thing about boat racing or motorcyle racing or anything where the athlete(s) is not the primary determinant. Tiger Woods could take lesser equipment and win. In fact, some players say he has, particularly several years ago when Nike was starting out in golf. Mickelson ridiculed Tiger's clubs as inferior. But no way a racer could take a markedly inferior engine to the finish line in front.

Otherwise, sports are physical, not mental. Golf and tennis, etc. are the purest of sports while something like chess is not.

People who have no skill in individual sports dismiss them as non-sports, a way of relieving themselves.

Most golf is played off a cart, or a caddy carries the clubs. To quote you directly "An engine dismisses it as a sport" No contradiction there.....And the last sentence of the first paragraph is simply not true. Been there, seen it, done it.

...."time out".....the fact that extra time always has to be played if teams are level (at least in the NFL, please tell me it'as not always like that everywhere else as well).....the fact that only a small number of players are even allowed to handle the ball....it's known as "football" but the foot hardly ever touches the ball.

Is that enough?

Have you ever stood on the field during an NFL game?

It sounds like a 20 car pile up on the LA Freeway.

The size and speed of the NFL makes an English Rugby team look like a bunch of Nuns playing Lawn Darts on a Sunday.

Oh Rugby is tough no doubt... But your average Rugby player would last 10 plays in an NFL football game.
