2. Why?
Is it because they allegedly used illegal performance enhancers or because they used performance enhancers at all?

13. Steroids are performance enhancers.
They also happen to be illegal drugs (without a script). They also happen to be banned in professional sports. There are a number of additional types of performance enhancers that are legal and not banned in professional sports.

My question is: are they cheaters for using illegal performance enhancers or are they cheaters for using performance enhancers of any kind?

How about that Republican fuck Curt Schilling?

Then they are heroes..:eyes:
I wonder what some people would say about Bonds if he had ever played for the Dodgers.....

15. You should care less about my San Francisco Giants and
more about you AAA Washington Nationals who really should be doing steroids so they can at least compete.

The embarrassing status of your teams makes me even more pissed off that MLB pulled them from Montreal where they were far more successful and drew almost as well.

16. I think steroids is a broad and misleading term.
You should listen to Flvegan who I know to be an expert in nutrition and body building.

My point in bringing up that motherfucker Schilling's name is, if people are going to criticize batters, then to be fair, you have to look at the pitchers.

As a biologist with years of expertise in immunology how am I not an expert on steroids? Not to mention I have family members who actually take steroids for medical reason? Way to cite someone as an expert who supports your belief.intellectually lazy arguments ...your calling card on this forum.

6. Anybody Who Thinks He's Clean Is A Fool
There should be no doubt that Shilling was a user. NOBODY increases the velocity of their fastball after they turn 30. Nobody.

I'd put him on my cheater list, too.

27. He's Been Accused
Sorry, Joey but the accusations were out there both in Arizona and Boston.

And just like how everyone wondered how Bonds starting to hit huge numbers of homers after he was well into his thirties, Shilling picked up 5mph on his fastball after he was 33.

That just doesn't happen.

So, if you think one is highly suspect, you have to think the other is too. The circumstantial evidence is essentially the same.

There. I have accused him, so it must be so. J'accuse!

No point in letting details like evidence to support the charges get in the way.:sarcasm:

Oh, never mind, there's "circumstantial" evidence.

Somebody probably got murdered in NOLA last night. I was out for a while. Oh shit, that's circumstantial evidence! I must have done it.

33. Where's Your Evidence On McGwire?
Edited on Sun May-03-09 04:50 AM by ProfessorGAC
Or Bonds? Or Sosa? Or everyone but Palmeiro who actually tested postive?

You're being willfully obtuse and that makes your post irrelevant.

10. McGwire does too, and really all he's knwon to have did is look stupid
in front of a congressional panel. I'd be willing to bet he did, but it's not beyond doubt, like it is with A-Roid and Bonds.

20. Technically, there is no doubt. McGwire admitted using...sort of.
Back 97 or 98, he admitted openly that he used Androstenedione. I recall the press even noting it in his locker in plain view. Androstenedione is a steroid precursor, meaning the body uses it to create testosterone (like putting a turbo on a body's function, really). It wasn't banned in baseball at the time, and most folks outside of bodybuilding had no idea what it was or how it worked.

Androstenedione (and all the andro and nor-andro supplements) were placed on the Schedule III list of controlled substances in 2004. It is now classified as a steroid, but it wasn't when he used it. So he used steroids...before they were steroids.

12. For a couple of reasons
he had a corked bat..there's openly cheating, shows a lack of integrity. And there is physical evidence that puts him in the same category as well if you look at the way his body looks and the correlation with the HR numbers. He shrank noticeably and his numbers dropped precipitously after the new drug testing kicked in.

Did you honestly think that professional, and money-making "amateur" sports, were pure as snow before those five guys showed up?

As long as there is a ton of money to be made, someone is going to be bending and/or breaking the rules.

People cheat, for an infinitude of reasons. Not all do, but some always have.

(And no, rhythmic gymnastics is still NOT a sport.)

(Booze isn't exactly a performance enhancer, in my experience...)
