1. There will be at least five Phillies in it.
Utley, Rollins, Howard, Ibanez and Hamels.

10. If Rollins make it, he'll be this year's least deserving all-star
at least based on his performance to this point. He's been playing better lately, though.

6. Don't think the Red Sox's catcher can make it past Joe Mauer's >.400 batting average.
:)

14. I wouldn't be suprised to see Bay as the only starter.
But I think they'll be well represented at the game.

7. The Giants have 3 excellent contenders
all of whom are pitchers..

Matt Cain..9-1 (leads NL in wins) ERA 2.39 (3rd in NL)

Tim Lincecum 6-1 ERA 2.66 (4th in NL) 103 SOs (2nd in NL)

Brian Wilson 18 saves(2nd in NL)

If the All Star game were tomorrow Matt Cain should be the NL starting pitcher.

11. For as much shit as I give the Giants for having a catcher hit 4th
Molina should probably go as well, at least as a backup.

12. I think the only way they'd pick Molina is if they don't pick three
Giants pitchers.

13. I think Molina will make it and Wilson will get snubbed.
Edited on Mon Jun-15-09 11:06 PM by hughee99
There's a lot of good options at closer (K-Rod, Broxton, Bell, Hoffman and Cordero), but Molina is clearly one of the top catchers in the NL (at least based on numbers). The voters will pick McCann, and the manager will take Molina at backup, I think.

15. Fred Lewis in left field!!
Orlando Hudson
Juan Pierre
Chad Billingsley
Randy Wolf
Jonathan Broxton

all deserve to be there, possibly Casey Blake also.

Manny should be kept as far away from the stadium as possible.

16. Nah...I think Manny ought to be there
all roided up and dressed in his now tarnished Dodger blue. Last I heard, Ramirez was 5th in the outfield All Star voting...gee, I wonder who's voting for him, could it be those hypocritical ignorant Dodger fans?
