Do-It-Yourself Online Abortion Manual

Taking a cue from the feminist-revered JANE -- the underground abortion service organization from the pre Roe days -- Molly at Molly Saves the Day provides the online abortion manual for the women of South Dakota and Goddess knows how many other states. . . .

From a list of equipment needed to detailed explanations of the procedures, the blogger says she can and will tell you all you need to know in order to set up your own one-stop abortion shop.

1. I can remember that a lot of these manuals circulated in the 70's
Just out of curiousity, are they really that much of an upgrade from a coat hanger?

2. I am simply stunned that we are heading back to dark & tragic days.
There will be some who will use this information to truly help women & there will be massive numbers of others who will use it to exploit their desperate situation & profit from it.

My mother voted for this cabal -- twice! -- & told me that abortion wasn't an issue that mattered to her anymore since she was beyond that age. I was sickened to hear her say that. If Roe vs Wade is reversed or simply gutted, I don't know if I will be able to forgive her.

8. She has a daughter doesn't she?
Possibly granddaughters, nieces? Is she concerned about THEIR lives?

I fought this 30 plus years ago and will do it again, for the sake of my DAUGHTERS, not ME.

9. Honestly, I don't even know who she is anymore --
certainly not the same woman who raised me. Since she started listening to limbaugh 15 years ago she has become a fear-filled, mean-spirited, hateful human being. It has been quite tragic for my sister & me to witness.

13. The same thing happened to my mother when she went blind
and was restricted to what the gummint (then the Reagan gummint) would give her to read in terms of current events: Reader's Digest and not a whole lot else.

My right wing dad listened to Lamebawl, so that was what she got, Reader's Digest and Lamebawl. Yes, she changed, but not completely. I have a feeling that her take on Stupid would have been pungent and rude.

Both my parents were prochoice to the end, but the desire for tax cuts seemed to trump every horror the right wing of the GOP stood for. It really is the economy for a lot of people, maybe most people.

I always wonder what would have happened had the DLC been prevented from taking working class and middle class economic issues off the table, if good people like my parents would have been given something to vote for besides business as usual and a big "fuck you over" on their taxes.

11. that's the problem! Lawmakers are comfy idiots too
They're not the ones who will have to go through coat hanger procedures or struggle to feed a baby. They're in their comfortable houses with wives too old to conceive anymore, and their kids? They can take a trip to Europe for all they care. And if they must carry the baby to term, they'll have money from daddy and mommy to take care of it. SICKENING. This awhole debate is SICKENING.

6. In the pre Roe days,
we had JANE, this time around, there will be underground shops all over the country. Many will be staffed with nurses and midwives. Sure some of them may be risky, but it beats a coathanger.

10. Underground pill
I read somewhere that there is medication for another ailment that causes early miscarriages, much like RU485. According to the article, it is popular with Latina women. The piece interviewed several doctors who stated that this was certainly true that medication "X" does cause an early miscarriage. I am sure there are many other drugs which also could have these side effects.

Sorry, I didn't keep the article. I guess this make the list until they find out about it. Then, there will a whole lot of women catching this "disease". Women with MONEY, that is.
