Aerosmith, Sammy Hagar, & others to play Stugis, SD this year!!!
Aerosmith, Sammy Hagar, Big & Rich, Keith Urban, Steve Miller, Cheap Trick, Steppenwolf, Fabulous Thunderbirds, REO Speedwagon, 38 Special, Foghat, Georgia Satellites, Greg Rollie and Cross Canadian Ragweed are among the acts confirmed for the inaugural Rock`n The Rally music festival, to be held Aug. 6-10 in Sturgis, S.D., Billboard.com has learned.

The festival, to be staged around the giant Sturgis Bike Week that draws thousands to the area, is produced by Dork Fish, Inc.

Dork Fish is in the process of building an $11 million permanent amphitheatre on a 34-acre site at the Glencoe Camp Resort in Sturgis. Capacity will be as high as 60,000. 'As opposed to the `build it and they will come` theory, we subscribe to the `build it where they already are theory`,' Dork Fish production manager/site coordinator Mark Russo tells Billboard.com.

Tickets range from $40 to $70 per day and go on sale on March 10 at Starticketsplus.com.

10. yep... we've been to a lot of bike rallys
(husband is in Daytona for bike week as I speak)

As for the posts here... these groups are classic biker music...and Foghat is great.

And for Arwalden..am sponsoring Bill Watrous to come to my town...the best jazz trombonist in 30 years. Appreciate all venues!

13. posted elsewhere unrealistic for Sturgis boycott
but it would be more realistic to have bikers with signs or tshirts etc that attend. It's a loyal group that attends every year and can't imagine a one of them boycotting.

15. think about it

"get your motor running" etc...total biking songs.

btw.. started bike rally where I live...most bikes cost over $30,000 and have professionals buying them pretending they are Peter Fonda..huge for our economy as so much disposable income.

Husband flew to Daytona this week on private jet with semi truck taking bikes to meet him...truck will follow the group with gourmet cook and full kitchen in semi. It's a totally different class of people than you think. Rather funny!

8. What Does It Say About Someone Who Has Not Even ONE CD...
... from any of those performers? (Me, for instance.)

16. Actually, the name "Cheap Trick" really stands out in that
less-than-exalted company like a thicket of thyme and bayleaf tied in twine bobbing in a pot of thin gruel.

At least to me it does.

14. I have a Journey CD, does that count?
It's only for purely sentimental reasons. And it's a sobering reminder of the need for discriminating taste.

I almost bought an REO cd for the same purpose.

*shudder*

7. Agree but the record companies should know that there is a boycott.
And none of their artists should be playing in SD now.
