"the day after Roe we won't be worrying about just one Supreme Court"
A Congressional briefing was held March 30th which featured Americans United For Life (AUL). They were promoting their new publication Defending Life 2006. They are formulating their strategy for AFTER Roe. Couldn't find which Congress-critters attended but found this article with it's links disturbing. The language in this article is NOT mine...it's from a RW blog.

<snip>

The top 10 states for protecting life are Michigan, Missouri, Louisiana, Texas, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Kansas, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Kentucky.

The worst 10 states for life are Vermont, New Jersey, Oregon, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Alaska, New Hampshire, New Mexico and Montana.

The AUL favors what is known as an "incremental" approach to establishing protection of life ...that is, not advocating for the outlawing of abortion in one fell swoop but trying to get legislation passed in favor of life one step at a time. It is the opinion of AUL that in the long run an incremental approach is more effective and will achieve the ultimate goal—outlawing of abortion and protection of life nationwide—in a more expeditious manner than if they go for it all in one meta-case.

In the words of their President and General Counsel Peter Samuelson, "the day after Roe we won't be worrying about just one Supreme Court (of the US) but 50 supreme courts (of states)." So in that vein they have compiled a comprehensive guide of each state's legislation in order to aid not only legislators, but also concerned citizens desiring to move the country towards a "culture of life."

2. that's what they're doing now.
mississippi and one other state i believe have only one abortion provider in the whole state.

every year that goes by finds new restrictions placed on abortion providers in other states.

we are LOSING the battle on womens reproductive rights --not winning -- we are not moving frward.

but steadily and incrementally backwards.
