1. The Bible doesn't condemn abortion.
Edited on Fri Oct-10-08 03:59 PM by Stellabella
There's a verse that states that if a person causes a woman to miscarry, that person should pay the FATHER a small fine. That's it.

Jesus never mentioned abortion.

In fact, many Jews are pro-choice, because they feel that the human soul gradually develops as the fetus grows, and an embryo/blastocyst isn't a human being.

On edit, verse 22.

Oh, and look at those other verses in that chapter. Many are quite horrendous. Why should anyone take the Bible literally?

2. Point out that God also supports choice
I mean, the Bible, especially the New Testament, is about "choosing" to follow God -- so if God himself has the decency to allow people to make that choice (and presumably there is no other "choice" greater than that one), then shouldn't his followers do the same and let people choose whatsoever they will?

Second strategy would be to refuse to accept the premise (whether you do personally or not) that whatever is written in "The Bible" should be relevent to people who "choose" not to believe it.

3. My feeling is that if men got pregnant, scientists would have carefully

researched the Amazon jungle herbal medicinals - some of which keep women free of pregnancy for one to three years. They woul dhave been available on our pharmacy shelves years ago. For very cheap, and wIthout the nasty side effects.

And I really would love to have some RW CHristian fundamentalist explain to me why the RW Christians know every passage in the Bible related to God's hating gays, and God's dislike of abortion, yet curiously they don't seem so familiar with the Sermon on the Mount, Wherein Jesus said "Blessed be the PeaceMakers."

or the passage where he says, "Little children love one another."

4. thank you...
I was also going to mention that if God or church is to have so much influence on government, then the church should pay taxes. I looked for the link to the article but couldn't find it...I may search some more..

5. Well you are most welcome
And my appreciation is to you for taking the time and effort to try and reach people.

it's important but I have become too old, cynical and grumpy.
