2. I wish I could say the same.
I've got some snow on the ground; it's been there since this weekend. Not much, but it's too cold to melt.

It's -8 degrees outside, the high today is forecast to be 18, and my water pipes froze 24 hours ago. I'm stopping at my son's on the way to work to get a shower.

It's parent conferences today and tomorrow, scheduled until 8pm.

At which point, when I get home, besides getting the wood stove going (my only heat source) and feeding the horses, I've got a sick horse to treat, which is MORE time spent out there in sub-zero temps.

I could use a cozy day by the fire, if only I had water.

Enjoy!

5. Do your best to stay warm
I volunteered to work at the clinic that Keith O is promoting. It's here today and tomorrow. Since we don't have school I'll just go there a little earlier than I had planned.

8. That's a nice way to spend the day.

I'm just hanging out waiting to give the 2nd round of medicine this morning so that I can feed, and then I'm off to my son's, where there will be heat and water.

:hi:

4. Good for you! How does it look for the weekend? There are a lot
of people in MO looking for some health care; I hope the snow doesn't hamper that effort.

10. I have one too...oh wait. I'm expected to work remotely.
But it is from the luxury of my own home, with a warm fire and in my pj's. We'll see how much work I actually get done!

11. Won't you have to make up the snow day at the end of
the school year? That's what we had to do. One time we went to school until the end of June. I would rather not have a snow day and get out of school earlier.

13. We get a day or two for free
They are built into the calendar. And if we have too many snow days, the state forgives them and we don't have to make them up.

I would much rather go to school a few extra days in June than have to get up in the dark in December and clean off my car. We have ALL summer after all. What's a few days in June?

16. In the school system where I taught in CT,
no school days were built into the school calendar. (Wish they were ) Consequently all snow days were added at the end of the school year when temps were in the 90s with no AC. Not much teaching/learning going on in that heat. One year we had a huge blizzard where the area was closed down for a week and no traffic was allowed on any of the roads and highways. That shutdown week, along with the other snow days, were added in June. Last day of school was June 29!!

12. Are you a teacher? Your supposed to be more dedicated
Neither ice nor rain nor dark of night shall stay this teacher from......
My daughter teaches in Illinois. You ought to hear her when she gets a snow day. Much, much more excited than when she was a kid.
