Teachers are the other team in his view...

He learned a lot from his years playing basketball. It prepared him well to be the Secretary of Education.

10. He'll have to do more than just talk.
His actions thus far don't bode well for public education.

I replied thusly to the last OFA email:

Obama doesn't support public school teachers so why should I support him? His actions through his education secretary are despicable. Really. Praising the wholesale firing of teachers in a low SES district, without regard to individual teacher performance and effectiveness? Privatizing public schools by turning them over to for-profit education corporate vultures? What does Bill Gates and the other billionaires know about teaching? What does Arne Duncan know about teaching? None of these people has ever been a school teacher. If teachers are so important, why does Obama-Duncan treat them like the most dispensable? Is this just an attempt to break the unions so they can pay teachers like Wal-Mart workers? I am so disappointed. I want my vote back.
