1. I'm going to try to go on Wednesday.
I wish I could go on the director's Q&A night on Thursday.

The trailer is heartbreaking. We are kind of living it, right now. Last Wednesday and Thursday, my 9th grade son did homework from 3:30 pm to 10:30 pm, with only a dinner break. This is all homework given that day, and due the next day. Although, I think he accidently did something due Monday.

2. K and R Unfashionable politics. Plus......
... what kind of distribution it's going to get?

Can't see anyone making a lot of $$$ by promoting this POV.

4. Free thinking and questioning authority
are cornerstones of our form of government. This form of schooling is not an education but it is a form of conditioning in hopes of producing little automatrons--and one has to wonder for what purpose.

6. I went to see it today
The director had a short Q&A after the movie. Basically they want to transform the educational system. It touched on many of the problems I see as a mom and as someone in the educational field.
One criticism that I have, is that even though they featured low income students, they were still high achievers with good grades. How would the transformation that they advocate (no homework or < 2 hours a night for h.s. students, less focus on testing, etc.) translate to a school with a large ELL population and where a majority of the students aren't working at grade level? I'd be interesting to see if a district like that has tried implementing the no homework policy and if it worked.
I totally recommend the movie, my neck hurts from nodding yes so many times during the movie. I got home at 9 o'clock and an hour later my son is still doing homework.
