CHRISTIAN 4TH GRADE SCHOOL TEXTBOOK TRIES TO EXPLAIN ELECTRICITY, GIVES UP
I have no words for this.

Electricity is a mystery. No one has ever observed it or heard it or felt it. We can see and hear and feel only what electricity does. We know that it makes light bulbs shine and irons heat up and telephones ring. But we cannot say what electricity itself is like.

3. Electricity is just Godpower, you know. God invented it. It's one
of the mysteries, kids. Something to do with magnets and wires and stuff. Don't forget to thank God every time you turn on a light switch. Jebus loves you, boys and girls. That's why He gave us electricity. :sarcasm:

4. They must mean that electricity is like God . . . .
No one has ever observed it or heard it or felt it. God only exists if we believe it exists.

7. The difference is that if you don't believe in electricity,
flipping the light switch still turns on the light (most of the time, anyhow).

8. No one has ever felt it . . . . other than anyone who has ever received a shock
been hit by lightning, been executed in an electric chair, touched a 9v battery to their tongue, etc.

I'd say the number of people who have felt electricity number in the billions.

16. You're not feeling *it.* You are feeling "what it does!" *It* is a mystery!
If you are properly religious, it cannot be explained. And if you explain it, you cannot be religious.

11. When these kids get into a college level science class they will be in for a rude awakening
That is, if they continue to be sheltered in these fundamentalist Christian schools all the way through the 12th grade.

14. (NOT a hoax) Update: Crazy Bob Jones University Science Textbook: “Electricity is a Mystery.”
Edited on Sat Sep-24-11 10:00 AM by Ian David
Update: Crazy Bob Jones University Science Textbook: “Electricity is a Mystery.”

<snip>

This is a scanned page from a Christian science textbook published by Bob Jones University. http://www.bjupress.com/product/222083

Directly from the description of the book Science 4 (2nd ed.) for teachers: “Explain God’s ordered world to your student through the study of the moon, light, electricity, area and volume, simple machines, digestion, animal defenses, trees, erosion, and simple classification of insects..”

We cringe to think of what the rest of the information in that book states!
Update:

It seems some people out there do not think this page is from a real Christian school “science” textbook. It is, very real, and the publisher acknowledges the page specifically and tries to explain it away. http://www.bjupress.com/about/electricity-is-a-mystery.php

Feel free to check out some more pages from the book here. http://www.bjupress.com/about/look-inside-science-4.php

Pages 8-10 and 15 are especially crazy. Well ok, the whole book is insane and that’s why it’s on RGC!

22. OECD 2011 - We're bottom half everything, 20th finishing high school
This 4th Grade text book writer is a typical American. Nothing more, nothing less.

ORGANISATION FOR ECONOMIC CO-OPERATION AND DEVELOPMENT -- worldwide economic performance and statistics.

Education at a Glance 2011 -- Adobe Acrobat format, 98 pages.

Full information page for this document -- OECD (2011), Education at a Glance 2011: Highlights, OECD Publishing.

-------------

Bottom line: you go through this report and category after category this "America # 1" country is no where near the top. The G20 countries and EU21 countries are kicking our butts.

Particularly, costs for higher education have been rising spectacularly in America and in United Kingdom. Graduation rate for high school in America is a disaster.

Read 'em and weep :::

● Education levels and student numbers: This section looks at education levels in the general population, how and where young people are studying, when they graduate, and how well they make the transition into the world of work.
● The economic and social benefits of education: This section looks at the extent to which education brings economic gains to individuals, in the form of higher incomes and lower unemployment rates, and at how these benefits serve as an incentive for people and societies to invest in education. It also examines the societal benefits related to having a highly educated population.
● Paying for education: How much countries spend on education, the role of private spending, whateducation money is spent on and whether countries are getting value for money.
● The school environment: How much time teachers spend at work, and how much of that time is spent teaching, class size, teachers’ salaries and the age and gender distribution of teachers.
● PISA: This special section introduces findings from the 2009 round of the OECD’s Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA)

Check out the whole flow of this study. You can flip/scan it and still get the knock-out.

Factoid example: U.S. is also near the bottom for being able to put HS grads and B.A. degrees to work. Page 41.

Our top kids are doing O.K. The most of our country is not.

White Citizens Council + John Bitch Society =REBRANDED= Tea Party

And they all hate public education.
