Yeah, it would mean that some people who can't afford a donor star (or do not wish to donate) couldn't participate, but it would also cut down on trolls and prevent crap like what happened in here this morning.

8. There's a "Women's Rights" forum and a "Feminists" group...I don't see why there shouldn't be a

group in addition to the forum. Groups, as you note, are safe havens (and that's pretty rigidly enforced--nobody's allowed to go into the Vegan group or the Russ Feingold with a "yummy yummy veal" or "Russ voted for Ashcroft and can kiss my ass" post--even though those sentiments are allowed elsewhere), and while DU is *supposed* to be intolerant of homophobia across the board, you know how that's gone...
