What are the worst analogies you've seen on DU for how teh gays are "attacking OUR candidate"?
The top two for me are:

"Yeah, like Israel is on the defense."

Implying that we have superior air power and killing innocent civilians disproportionately?

"That's like saying the guys who bomb abortion clinics shouldn't be taken to task for kiling people. After all, it's just how the anti-abortion group expresses themselves. Geez."

We're bombing *something* (not quite clear on what we're bombing), and killing people.

10. Ah, as I figured.
You completely misrepresented the argument.

I notice you forgot to leave out the part where the other person was arguing that you can't support gay people and disagree with "them" on the Warren issue. As if gay people were of one mind.

I didn't read the other thread. It was from a hypocrite PUMA who had no objection when Hillary Clinton was palling around with Rick Warren. Which is just one more reason why this phony outrage is a big pile of bullshit.

Edited on Wed Dec-31-08 02:02 PM by MNBrewer
and, have you spent any time on DU actually talking with the GLBT members about how we feel about the Warren issue and what we think it portends?

Not that it matters. You've got your mind made up on the issue. No need to read.

12. I'm as offended by Rick Warren as anybody.
But I'm not interested in exploiting anything to refight primary bullshit.

13. This has nothing to do with the Primary
and everything to do with the shape of the Obama administration.

Hint: Obama is the next president.

14. Oh, I'm afraid it does.
You just provided a link written by a PUMA arguing we should have chosen Clinton instead, because of the Warren issue. Yet, Clinton was associating with Warren just like Obama is.

" everything to do with the shape of the Obama administration."

Warren has absolutely nothing to do with Obama admin. policy. It's a damn lie. And why I won't take anybody seriously when they say otherwise.

and you say that thread argued that Clinton should have been chosen instead of Obama?

Do a search for the word "Clinton", and see that it's not there.

PUMA? Anyone who brings up THAT term is the one who is refighting the primaries.

24. fucking bullshit. I have lots of problems with posts that
the OP talks about. I certainly don't consider you the problem. Annoying as I often find you, I've never seen you post something solely to shit stir- and yeah, that's what I think the OP is doing; playing divisive, stupid games. Furthermore, I'm tired of the minority opinion, and yes it sure as fuck is a minority opinion, being blown up to a greater importance than the majority opinion of straight DUers.

Oh, and get stuffed with your dishonest crap about how I said you and other members of the GLBT community are "the problem".

30. It is a legitimate question ask how some aruguments counter to gay rights
unfairly depict the gay rights movement, gay rights activism, or for that matter, how the opinions and the impact of pro-gay rights posters are misrepresented.

promote understanding or furtherance of a legitimate civil rights movement.

34. Exactly. Unfair analogies just give us one more hurdle to jump
as they don't really reflect a simple premise: human rights are inalienable rights and do not derive from the forebearance of our fellow man.

Human rights should not be brought up for popular vote.

Laws taking away basic Constitutional rights are illegal.

The right wing has managed to breach those two ideas with their cultural wars and power and influence and some don't seem to understand that.
