Was Krueger told to 'throw the fight'?
Edited on Fri Mar-06-09 11:28 AM by dickthegrouch
(On edit: corrected the name of the AG staffer)

I have never seen such ineptitude. For such an important hearing, he seemed not even to comprehend the questions being asked, and several times spent so much time silence-filling that he never actually got the chance to answer.

If this guy even gets a raise this year, far less a bonus, we'll be able to draw our own conclusions.

6. I'm wondering the same thing
He came across as a dolt and completely unprepared. And this was the best Jerry Brown could offer up from his office? Krueger literally sealed the defeat of Minter and Stewart's respective arguments re: amendment vs. revision by providing the justices with all the ammunition they needed. And then went on to pathetically argue the unconstitutionality of Prop 8 based on "quaint 19th century laws", as Kennard and Starr jokingly referred to them.

Did the AG's office (read: Jerry Brown) not even bother to do mock hearings beforehand to get this guy prepared for his 15 minutes before the justices or help him to build his argument of unconstitutionality? It appears not and I am sickened by Krueger's gross ineptitude. As the majority of Twitter concluded, Krueger as an "EPIC FAILURE".

Krueger did more harm than good and only added insult to the millions of GLBTQI Americans who looked to the California AG's office for a successful day in court.

7. I was reading some of the comments on Towerload
and many people said the same thing.

I didn't see it so I can make a call. But a lot of people seemed upset with the lack luster performance.

9. I commented about his performance during the hearing.
I don't know law better than him, but I think I could do a better job appearing confident about what I would be arguing.

61. Doesn't Kennard seem pissed off....as though she's being

bothered and teh gays have a nerve to waste everyone's time?

Ughhh, it's so frustrating.

And the deputy AG isn't quite as smooth and confident as Stewart, unfortunately.

They should let her speak. lol
