Sec. Gates on DADT: "the president and I feel like...let's push that one down the road a little bit"
Edited on Sun Mar-29-09 06:09 PM by Maven
Stay in the back of the bus.

From FOX News Sunday, via Towleroad:

Said Gates: "DADT continues to be the law, and any change in the policy would require a change in the law. We will follow the law whatever it is. That dialogue, though, has really not progressed very far at this point in the administration. I think the president and I feel like we've got a lot on our plates right now and let's push that one down the road a little bit."

I see, a lot on your plates. Like planning a new "surge" in Afghanistan.

1. One would think that not kicking out gays would free up some troops for the surge

2. I am not gay, but support most gay endeavors....but this is not something I would
get all atwitter about...HEALTH CARE FOR EVERYONE, INCLUDING HIV POSITIVE PEOPLE is more sensible than using up his mandate on DADT!

at least thats what he told us in the primaries. No need to go back to WA to save the economy he can do multiple things at once. Unless apparently one of them is standing up for human dignity and equality.

12. What the fuck are these "gay endeavors" that you support?
Look, either you are for civil rights or against them, being able to serve in the Military is considered a right, so are you FOR it or not?

13. So It's Acceptable to You That Troops Die Due to Lack of Intel?
The kind of intel that could have been provided by the dozens of gay Arab translators that have been kicked out under DADT.

What other potential life-saving actions should be ignored until we have free health care?

support killing DADT and letting people serve openly.

3. Because equality under the law is SUCH a wedge issue
And changing the law in favor of equality will take SOOO much time and resources that other things won't be able to get done. :eyes:

9. Certain ones are on now record for not needing gay money, either.
They can kiss my gay ass the next time a midterm rolls around, the money will be spent in a very focused way, even if it means out of State Dems.

Edited on Mon Mar-30-09 08:45 AM by sui generis
why can't you just be happy we're not hunting you in the streets and lynching you for sport?

Why oh WHY do you have to keep demanding equal rights? Why can't you just be straight like the rest of us? It would make everything SO much simpler. For the rest of us. Who know what's best for you.

:eyes:

sigh. time to go deliver a smackdown.
