As you may know by know, one of the out-of-state sources of funding for the Yes on Proposition 8 campaign was the matriarch of the Garff family which owns approximately 53 automobile dealerships across the West including Acura of the Desert, Honda of the Desert, and Toyota of the Desert in Cathedral City as well as Garff Chevrolet. According to Debra Bowen, California Secretary of State, Garff contributed $100,000 to Yes on Prop 8.

At the last business meeting of the Desert Stonewall Democrats, the Steering Committee voted to approve a boycott of the four Garff dealerships in the Coachella Valley and to approve related protests and rallies.

This weekend, under the leadership of Roger Tansey, Vice-President of DSD and Co-Chair of the Public Relations and Rapid Response Committee, we will begin to plan protests against the Garffs and their business enterprises in the Coachella Valley.

If you are interested in participating in the planning of the boycott and protest(s) with the DSD subcommittee, please contact Roger either via this Facebook group or rtansey959@aol.com.

1. Let's boycott the other 51 dealerships as well.

2. You have no need to worry about this Toyota owner.
I bought my '99 Avalon in San Diego and it's had it's recommended service every 3000 miles since that time. I've 127,000 miles on it, the oil doesn't even look dirty when it comes time to change it, and it's only unscheduled service was a battery change.

I think I'll drive this car forever, unless I find a better car in the meantime. I'm not going to hold my breath.
