An openly gay state lawmaker received a death threat
http://www.desmoinesregister.com/article/20090413/NEWS/90413052/1001/

An openly gay state lawmaker received a death threat Monday, according to public safety officials.

Sen. Matt McCoy, D-Des Moines, received the threat by telephone, said Courtney Greene, a spokeswoman for the Iowa Department of Public Safety.

McCoy met with the Iowa State Patrol at the Capitol, but because the call wasn’t received at Capitol, the matter was referred to Des Moines police, Greene said.

“The patrol received information that a number of legislators are receiving troubling calls and emails,” Greene said.

Troopers advised lawmakers that if the incidents happen on a legislative e-mail account or Statehouse phone, to notify them. But if it happens home or on a personal telephone, they should call their local law enforcement officials, Greene.

1. Hmmm. It's the 'NO GAY MARRIAGE' mafia making a point, apparently
Security was heavy at the Capitol again Monday as supporters of traditional marriage rallied outside the building, then came inside to lobby lawmakers. They want lawmakers to take steps against an April 3 Iowa Supreme Court ruling that legalized same-sex marriage in Iowa.

McCoy has been a vocal advocate of the Supreme Court ruling to legalize gay marriage.

4. Never mind that the Legislature had nothing to do with equal marriage in Iowa
I have to wonder if the Supreme Court judges are getting the same death threats.
