Please support Adam Lambert On Idol. The Xtian Groups have launched a full fledged assault
on him. Because of his "perceived" orientation, he is being labeled an "unfit role model for kids". Pastors are asking congregations to vote for the "Christian" contestant Danny Gokey, from the pulpit and an all out viral campaign has recently begun.

This is yet more evidence that the right has not given up and will use ANY means to push its agenda.

I know it isn't "cool' to watch Idol on DU but Adam is truly a phenomenon and is now a political football. This is the most watched show in America and if the bigots can unite to take a stand , I would hope the LBGT Community could step in to support Adam. Please vote next Tuesday and every show night till the finale. Don't let the bigots win

1. I'm a fan of Adam
However, I think we can safely say he's gay without using "percieved orientation." I mean, there are pictures of him making out with his boyfriend.

9. I use the phrase as no one really "knows" and his orientation shouldn't be in question
no matter what it is.I don't care what he is.He indicates on his myspace page that he is "Bi" and there are also pictures of him french kissing "girls". I don't feel he is "stright" but he could be anything. Adams only quote on the whatter is "It is what it is" but what it is he doesn't say. I loved the answer! The point is the Right are trying to make an example of him.

3. Adam is my favorite - hes the only reason I watch (and Kris Allen - just to look not listen!)
Its interesting to me that he is being targeted - Kris Allen is also a youth Minster at New Life Church like Danny - Im hoping more people find that out and it splits their try at offing Adam.

BTW - Adam is selling very well on iTunes -

Adam Lambert’s “Mad World” is #1 of all the charted Idol downloads, and sits between Jesse McCartney’s “How Do You Sleep” at #29 and Kelly Clarkson’s “My Life Would Suck Without You” at #30 on the current (as of 2:14 pm ET) iTunes Top 100 chart.

1. “Mad World” - Adam Lambert
2. “Born to Be Wild” - Adam Lambert
3. “Falling Slowly” - Kris Allen
4. “The Tracks of My Tears” - Adam Lambert
5. “Ring of Fire” - Adam Lambert
7. “Play that Funky Music” - Adam Lambert
8. “Black or White” - Adam Lambert
9. “Ain’t No Sunshine” - Kris Allen
10. “Endless Love” - Danny Gokey

PS Do you have a link I can send to people on a story on how the church's are doing this?

4. You know they want a religious war on Idol. Lambert v. Gokey
Lambert who shows humility while blowing the others out of the water
Gokey who pimped his dead wife while thrusting his hips and vainly trying to keep up.

6. imo
(just to say I could care less which way he swings)
but my opinion (constructive criticism)his malismal approach is way over the top, losing the established key every four bars or so. I've barely heard worse malismas from untrained gospel singers. I think last years talent pool was much better.

18. Some information for my fellow musical illiterates
The term used by wtbymark, "malismal", was new to me, and nothing relevant showed up on Google.

After a bit of floundering, though, I found this:
Melisma, in music, is the singing of a single syllable of text while moving between several different notes in succession. Music sung in this style is referred to as melismatic, as opposed to syllabic, where each syllable of text is matched to a single note. (from for "Melisma")

So, wtbymark, you thought you could fool me with your clever typo? Hah! :)

11. The only link I had was "removed" from the AI website. I'll try to find another
but if you google Adam lambert , religion etc some of the "Christian Evangelical" sites are trashing him. And almost every Entertainment Blog has folks going after him

12. Thanks. Sort of. I am getting more back into entertainment, which is what I did for a living prior t
politics and DU has gotten a little too insular and uninformed for me. There are a lot of great posters left but many newbies just don't seem to care about the fame issues that i do.And whan a poster has to post, as I read here the other day, questioning "why " FDR is a Democratic icon, well, I have no words.

The other contestants seem so ordinary to me.

14. I love Adam
I'm a grandma and Adam is my favorite. I picked him out as the best of the group when there was 12 in the running. He has star power, a powerful voice, and dare I say it --- my Elvis!!!

19. frankly, Adam would be far better off coming in second . . .
the winner of AI is signed to a conract that pretty much has others making all his/her decisions -- what to record, where to perform, what to wear, etc. . . by coming in second, Adam can make his own choices about his career and very likely exceed whatever success he might achieve as the winner . . . see Chris Daughtry, Clay Aiken, Jennifer Hudson, etc., for examples . . .

21. Actually , That is not true. All of the top 10 and certainly the top 5
are obligated to the Parent companies of AI. Adam already lost his "choices" when he made top 10, so apparently he wants this!

20. I bet a bunch of these people are just pissed off Claymates
Still mad that their object of worship turned out to be gay (even if they were the last ones in the universe to know).

And I agree with the sentiment that people who lose the show have better careers anyway. The only person who won that really got anywhere is Kelly Clarkson.

I will vote for Adam regardless, though.

23. That may be so but I always found Clay and the Claymates a little creepy!
And Clay used to outright lie and say he was 'straight". He even said that to Rolling Stone and on interviews. Now he denies he did it. I actually find him icky but I used to think he had a good voice.I just don't care for either his attitude or his latest stuff.

24. I think he's a terrific performer.
I for one could not care less about his sexual orientation. He's an excellent singer, much better than Gokey or any of the rest.
