My partner and my 6th anniversary today. Onto year seven...
We're planning on spending our seven year itch with one another. Six years down and we've barely scratched the surface. It's also my first committed relationship and I'm almost 40. My motto is "No commitment until commitment." We suffer and struggle with each other, cherish and adore each other, enrich and expand each other. I think its funny when people say "given the choice wouldn't you be straight because its easier?" Now how in hell would it be easier if I gave up the love of my life? Most straight folks I know aren't as happy as we are.
2. The truth is I've started saying when I'm disgruntled at my hubby, "I wish I were
a lesbian, it would be easier"... men are just so different than women... I call it God's cruel joke to pair the most opposites together and make them function together. I'll be glad for the day when people will say good luck in any relationship because they are all hard and complicated and require work... the good and the bad.
4. Can't imagine it's easier, really. But I may get a little insight soon.
There is no script to follow, but no script to rebel against either. No one to get advice from. No social support really. I suppose I'll see if its easier being with another woman or with a man soon enough--my partner is going to transition within the month (begin testosterone treatments). I suppose it'll be a whole new journey.
10. Be careful with anything that may rub off onto you. If you start noticing
that you need to wax more or if you have any children that display aggression or a surge in adult growth. Testosterone can cause issues for those who are not intending to take it.
when you have found the love of your life, your time together is one of unfolding of love and understanding, May your years together continue in happiness.
