I want to know
Edited on Tue May-26-09 07:54 PM by t0dd
What Obama thinks about proposition 8 being upheld. I want a public statement about it. Isn't he supposed to be in fucking LA tomorrow? Do all of you remember how he reacted after our victory in Iowa? He "respected" the decision and affirmed his support for civil unions. Then where was he after the decisions in Vermont and Maine? I'm tired of the cowardice. He needs to stop playing cautious and stand up for what is right. He needs to enact a moratorium and prevent any further discharges because of DADT. He needs to do a lot of things! Enough is enough.

2. How Does Obama Feel About The Prop 8 Being Upheld?
Edited on Tue May-26-09 08:13 PM by queerart
He named a candidate for the US Supreme court on the day the Prop 8 decision was to be announced........

The Whitehouse knew naming a US Supreme court nominee would overshadow, and bury all other news stories.....

No doubt about it........ He wants the "Queer Problem" to simply go away......

As your President, I will use the bully pulpit to urge states to treat same-sex couples with full
equality in their family and adoption laws. I personally believe that civil unions represent the best
way to secure that equal treatment. But I also believe that the federal government should not
stand in the way of states that want to decide on their own how best to pursue equality for gay and
lesbian couples — whether that means a domestic partnership, a civil union, or a civil marriage.
Unlike Senator Clinton, I support the complete repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA)
– a position I have held since before arriving in the U.S. Senate. While some say we should repeal
only part of the law, I believe we should get rid of that statute altogether. Federal law should not
discriminate in any way against gay and lesbian couples, which is precisely what DOMA does.
I
have also called for us to repeal Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, and I have worked to improve the Uniting
American Families Act so we can afford same-sex couples the same rights and obligations as
married couples in our immigration system.

3. There were more than a few chants at Obama at the NYC protest today
Take a stand, etc.

One of the best signs said "Yes We Can* *unless you're gay"
