Charges Dropped Against NY Gay Marriage Mayor

Criminal charges against New Paltz Mayor Jason West laid after he performed a series of same-sex weddings last year were dropped on Tuesday.

West had been facing 24 charges of violating the state's domestic relations law.

"To proceed further would serve no practical purpose," Ulster County District Attorney Don Williams said Tuesday.


since this was purely political to begin with, I'm tickled that they dropped the charges
