Christian Group Calls For Nickelodeon Boycott Over Trans Character (Degrassi)
FLORIDA: Christian Group Calls For Nickelodeon Boycott Over Trans Character

The Florida Family Association is calling for an advertiser boycott of Nickelodeon's Teen Nick channel over a transgender character on its show, Degrassi: The Next Generation. The anti-gay group is falsely claiming to have already forced Kodak, the show's prime sponsor, to pull out.

The Florida Family Association (FFA) claimed another victory on Wednesday when David Caton announced that, after receiving e-mails from FFA members, Kodak pulled the plug on sponsoring “DeGrassi: The Next Generation” on Teen Nick. The FFA targeted DeGrassi due to, as Caton put it in an e-mail sent out on Oct. 27 to his supporters, the show “targets teens with gay propaganda and other immoral behavior.” Teen Nick boasted that Kodak was the sponsor of their show 'DeGrassi: The Next Generation' and aired dozens of their advertisements just before Kodak received thousands of e-mails regarding the program’s irresponsible content,” wrote Caton on Wednesday. “Kodak was the most frequent advertiser on DeGrassi just before Florida Family Association’s Oct. 27 e-mail alert was released. Additionally, Teen Nick labeled Kodak as a ‘sponsor’ of several episodes during that same time.

3. In many ways you are right
It's difficult being a normal (msm calls us liberal) Christian these days. I am horrified at the hate the "Christians" display. I dont understand it. I dont know how they can justify it and then I get told I am a false Christian. So be it, I guess.

5. I dropped out of an Xtian church a long time ago.
And I dont regret it one bit. And the reason I left? One night we went to Six Flags. And we were going home around 11:00. And I was supposed to go in a car with people I had never met. And when I went to ask why it was - my friends at the time told me the church policy was that they required an equal ratio of guys to girls in the car at all times. Because they "thought" something was going to happen. And when I asked WTF, all I got was a blank stare like "you know what". :silly:

10. Yeah that was truly bizarre.
The nauseatingly emotional member testimonials were a whole different thing altogether, not to mention a lot of people I met at that church had serious self-loathing issues. Kind of like that first scene in Religulous where Bill Maher is talking to the truck drivers and the one guy's like "Yeah before I got saved, I drank my weight in Jack Daniels every night, I was with tons of hookers and blow, I had a wad of hundreds in my pocket at all times...". Nearly every person I met in that church was like that! And they're all real. And they vote repuke.

11. I could probably add about 100 more to that.
Any Xtian organization with the word "family" in the name automatically registers as a hate group as far as I'm concerned.

They certainly are as shown by their hysteria against GLBT or anything else that their narrow minds cannot grasp.

9. Geez. If that offends them then they really have no ability
to empathize with Any of us, or enjoy any show that depict any of us, because they Don't Want To. That depiction was about as sugar coated as it could get. :(

12. I received an email back from Kodak
Greetings David,

We received your e-mail and appreciate the opportunity to comment.

Our new "So Kodak" advertising campaign, featuring Rihanna, Trey Songz, Pitbull and Drake (who, we know, started his career on Teen Nick) will continue to run on Degrassi. What is happening is a planned break in our media schedule. We'll be back very soon, so keep an eye out for us!

Sincerely,

Tammy R.
