Does the religious right even care about the victims of anti-gay persecution?
http://pamshouseblend.firedoglake.com/2011/12/09/do-the-religious-right-even-care-about-the-victims-of-anti-gay-persecution/

Based upon religious right reaction to the new Obama Administration policy regarding worldwide anti-gay persecution, one has to ask do these so-called followers of Christ have any problem with rape, “honor-killings,” and murder if these actions are done to gays.

It sounds harsh to say that but what other opinion can one gauge after reading the words of religious right talking heads such as

Peter LaBarbera:

Homosexuality — once widely regarded as a Crime Against Nature — is no more a “fundamental human right” than any other sexual sin.

Peter Sprigg of the Family Research Council:

It is startling that President Obama is prepared to throw the full weight and reputation of the United States behind the promotion overseas of the radical ideology of the sexual revolution.

Matt Barber of the Liberty Counsel and radio show host Janet Mefferd:

Mefferd: Here’s a question I had too. In all the stories I was reading yesterday about this directive, in none of them did I see any break down of statistics on the number of homosexuals and transgenders worldwide who are being tortured, persecuted and killed for being gay, have you seen any statistics like that?

Barber: Of course not, it’s nonsense. It’s Orwellian New Speak.

These folks aren’t stupid. They’re willfully ignorant. And sad.

Perhaps my hubby/in-laws are the exception to the rule but they still have to count for something.

4. Rec 5 and off to the greatest
QED each "conservative" only cares about his/her own individual self and damn anybody or anything else. In this house, we call them either "selfservatives" or "divas at the opera"... y'know, always warming up with "ME ME ME ME ME ME MEEEEEEEE!"

5. No, because they're just like racists, sexists and bigots everywhere.

They don't realize what they are. They do often show their true colors though. Eventually it slips out. If you talk to them long enough, they will inadvertently admit to feeling superior to all those they really hate.

I just had an exchange not long ago with someone who is deeply sexist. They had assumed all along that the quality of a particular person's posts meant they must be of a particular gender, but was actually surprised to find out that person was of the other gender.

Just like Bill O'Reilly being 'surprised' that black people at Sylvia's in Harlem weren't constantly swearing, this someone is completely unaware of their disposition.

These homophobes need help, but they don't get it when surrounded by people that tell them they're particular brand of bigotry is 'normal'.

You can't expect everyone to be introspective.

They've made that abundantly clear. We're not victims of "anti-gay persecution". We do it to ourselves because we choose to live sinful lifestyles, yadda yadda yadda. If only we'd listen to God's Truth, as told to us by his messengers, blah blah. Free Will, you know. :eyes:

8. I wish I could make these idiots face their hypocrisy,
but that would mean they'd have to posses the ability to reason.

I would love to tell them that when Christians were being persecuted, that was a 'choice' too, but these morons are so convinced they're right that they won't get it.

I really, actually hate these people. I consider them sub-human due to their total inability to introspect or reason. They are mindless animals that were lucky enough to be born bipedal.

10. Of course these alleged Christians "care", But in the wrong way.
They are actively in favor of the persecution, but discreetly stop just short of saying "yeah kill them all".

11. They absolutely hate gay people.
They do not even see us as human, but instead, demons in human shape. There is no cruelty they will not do to us. There is no compassion for us as human beings. They do not even see us as human. They see us as the physical embodiment of their arch enemies.

What kills me is that if they would read the passages of the Bible before and after their favorite passages they use against us, they would realize they should equally be hounding people who wear mixed linens and eat shellfish. But, they don't have to do that. For some reason, they are able to use their Bibles as weapons against us and never actually crack the thing open and read it. It's a damn shame they cannot be reprogrammed and given the ability to learn and read and comprehend the book they use as a weapon so often.

They do not even see us as human beings, but instead, they see us as demons in human form. There is no cruelty they will not perpetrate on us, sadly.

13. The ideological foundation of RW pseudo-christian fundamentalism is hatred.
Edited on Sun Dec-18-11 12:01 PM by Zorra
They hate anything that is different from them. The same goes for RW Islamists, Mormons, etc. They're all the same, really. Members of the Universal Church of Bigotry and Hate.

RW fundies pick and choose verses from the bible/koran etc, and use them as a vehicle to try to justify the "ravenous wolf" of hatred that inhabits their being.

RW fundy pseudo-christians give Christianity a bad name, and because of their hypocrisy and vile beliefs and actions, they cause many people to dismiss Christianity out of hand.

IMO, sincere Christians should consider mounting a serious campaign against these deceitful, hypocritical "ravenous wolves".
