AFA considering boycott of Ford Motor Company
(Here it is ... the fundies at AFA have announced their response to Ford's committment to the LGBT community)

The American Family Association says that Ford Motor Company reneged on some agreements reached in discussions with the automobile giant, and the organization is considering its next move.

“We had an agreement with Ford, worked out in good faith. Unfortunately, some Ford Motor Company officials made the decision to violate the good faith agreement. We are now considering our response to the violation and expect to reach a decision very soon,” said Donald E. Wildmon, chairman of AFA.

AFA had called for a boycott of Ford last spring because of Ford’s support for the homosexual agenda and homosexual marriage but suspended the boycott for six months at the request of a group of Ford dealers. Wildmon said AFA and Ford officials hammered out an agreement in the interim that was accepted by both parties.

“All we wanted was for Ford to refrain from choosing sides in the cultural war, and supporting groups which promote same-sex marriage is not remaining neutral,” Wildmon stated.

He stated that because Ford broke the agreement, the option of a boycott is now very much alive.

1. If they keep calling it a "culture war"...
...can we start treating them like "enemy combatants"? Please? I mean, if this is war (and they do insist that it is), shouldn't we respond as if they mean to do us harm (because they do)?

9. You're assuming "they" will be the ones raptured?
Actually, I think if the rapture really did happen, the AFA folks (along with Falwell, Robertson, Fred Phelps, etc., etc.) would have an interesting time explaining to their flocks why they are still here.

3. Poor babies, they'll have to take the train.
Fundies reduced to helping the environment because they can't buy their gas guzzlers. Yes! We will get you to be progressive one way or the other!

4. Boycott Motherfuckers!
And in six months you will find someone else to hate. Please take a moment and consider your visit to the pearly gates when the time comes. Jesus Christ is gonna whup your asses straight to hell where you will burn for eternity.

6. Bigotry and promoting hate can never be done in good faith, you
stupid asswipe. Stop worrying about my dick and stop using it for your fundraising.

Here's a suggestion, confess your little queer fantasies to your flock, claim the devil's got a hold of you, then hold out your hand and tell them to dig deep to save you. While you've got your hand deep in their pockets, you can even cop a furtive feel if you'd like. It's what your kind do

8. IS THERE A LAWYER IN THE HOUSE???
Can tax exempt funds of a religious entity be used to promote a boycott of a business? I think its time separation of church and state got pushed to the front burner.

10. A business isn't "state," so I don't think it's an issue.
Since Ford is not a government intitution, political candidate or something similar, there's not much that can be done here.

(Disclaimer: Finally getting my notice that my application to the local law school is complete does NOT make me a lawyer, much as I wish it would.)

11. Thanks and good luck to you in Law School, but
I guess I often fade to left handed logic in such matters. Why can such funds be used to promote a boycott against anything? The purpose of the tax exemption is to promote charitable activities. Hating in the name of Jesus Christ and funding that hate tax free just toasts both sides of my bread and has nothing to do with charity. I don't understand. Please file this post away and when you are nominated for the supreme court in 30 years or so, bitch slap your conservative detractors with it.

12. Columnist takes it to Ford for accommodating these RW jerks
The current "Savage Love" column by Dan Savage includes a couple of paragraphs at the end about Ford's effort to placate the AFA. One noteworthy comment: "The AFA's boycott of Disney was called off after nine years because it wasn't working. When the AFA threatened Kraft, the execs at Kraft told the haters from the AFA to go fuck themselves." Link: http://www.villagevoice.com/people/0550,savage,70938,24.html
