Happy Valentine's Day!
One of the legends of St. Valentine has it that Valentinus was a priest who performed marriages that were illegal under Roman law, and was martyred for it. The very romance of this holiday comes from the celebration of marriages that were forbidden by the stupid laws of a couple thousand years ago; today, stupid laws forbid marriages of gay and lesbian people. Interesting, isn't it?
