Gonzaga fans' chant: 'Brokeback Mountain'

Professors, students want Kennel Club to stop making anti-gay slurs

SPOKANE, Wash. - Fans of No. 5 Gonzaga have been asked to stop yelling "Brokeback Mountain" at opposing players.

The reference to the recent movie about homosexual cowboys was chanted by some fans during the game Feb. 6 against Saint Mary's, and is apparently intended to suggest an opposing player is gay.

The chants were the subject of several classroom discussions over the past week, and the faculty advisers for the Kennel Club booster group urged students to avoid "inappropriate chants" during the Bulldogs' Saturday game against Stanford, which was nationally televised on ESPN.

1. I heard about that

I'm an Arizona Wildcats fan and I remember when the ASU fans made fun of one of our players (Steve Kerr) who later had a distinguished NBA career. His dad had been killed in Beirut and they taunted for that. There's no accounting for taste. Gonzaga has a great team, now they need some great fans.

Some college students are probably the dumbest people alive, other than the college students ruining the executive branch.

2. It may be some consolation to know....

....that the movie "Brokeback Mountain" has done unexpectedly well in conservative Eastern Washington . There was a newspaper article just a few days ago about this. Bubba's going to the movie.

maybe nobody would "get it" since the catholic church is trying to bury the issue.
